As soon as 1 boat reaches the top and goes down the drop the lift stops and waits for a set amount of time, or until the boat reaches a set point before starting again, this stops boats crashing into each other.

This happened to me when I went a few weeks ago! Except it was at the first lift. One of the boats got stuck at the top and about 5 others were in line at the bottom waiting. We were there for about 10 minutes while they tried to sort it out, and when they did they had to keep stopping the lift so the boats didn't all go down at the same time.

@EMBOBZ2112 If it works like in Roller Coaster Tycoon then the first log will speed up at the top of the drop and be at the bottom of the drop by the time that the second log falls. Then there should be some space at the bottom so the logs don't hit each other. At least that's what I assume.

there's a lot of comments about, oh my god you'll all crash on the drop - no they wont. you see if you've ever been with your eyes open, or if you've seen a video with the bottom of the drop included, you'll notice there is two metal rods sticking up in the water, these sensors stop the lift at the top of the slope if another tub is too close, they would not have crashed, but they would have taken a bloody long time to get through!

lol the sensors wuldnt have been working though during the breakdown because the the staff member would have operated the lift manually to send the boats over. The rods only work when the lift is running in auto! They would never have crashed though as the staff check each boat is clear before they send the next!
