  • This looks a bit all over the place to me. Like rather than rebuild it from the ground up they've stuck a load of features on an explorer that hasn't altered much in years, which if anything could make it more complicated.

The copy path feature doesn't seem that 'new' to me. I use it a lot on Picasa and it's in the context menu.

Having said all that I thought Windows 7 a vast improvement on previous options and will probably upgrade asap.

  • How come Microsoft is always so much behind every other designer/developer out there?

  • Chuck Liddell working on Windows 8

  • Chuck Liddell working on Windows 8

  • You can make it clean by double clicking on Home, itll collapse it, same as Office 2007/2010. Personally I find it way easier and also easier for people who arnt good in computers since they are already used to seeing it in Office, they already know how to use it, etc.

    -Windows 8 Tester.

  • It's nice, but it is going to take up WAY to much room. maybe scale it down to a size that is comparable to the menu bar and tool bar from Vista/7

  • Looks fucking terrible. Adding the bloated Ribbon garbage to Explorer is NOT an improvement.

  • and i'm sure they have a great vision and stuff, but so far, i'm not feeling it. way too much going on.. I know they are adding functionality and all, but I like a clean interface.

  • it's really way to cluttered! I am a die hard Windows 7 fan.. and I love it.. I don't know wtf these guys are on.. PLEASE LISTEN TO US! what happened with all that "windows 7 is my idea."??? it looks like windows 8 is all microsoft..

  • I was already confident with the way it was in windows XP.

  • Comment removed

  • Copy Path. that's a pretty nifty idea.

  • yes this things exist in Office and more then 80% of people hate them..... wy to go MSt

  • @ShaiM182 agreed. this ribbon stuff is crap! Windows 7 is so amazing! why are they making it cluterred and ugly! WTF!

  • I think if enough of us complain, they will tweak it a little or atleast give us an option of "classic" windows 7 style.

  • @deepen2011 there is a option in there to collapse the ribbon on the right top corner

  • @PAKISRULEZ yeah I see that.. I just feel that they are making it too confusing for people.. Windows 7 is loved by everyone because of it's simplicity and clean look.. the average user doesn't want all those option buttons everywhere in their face. I understand they are making it easier to do tasks, but idk.

  • By "respecting the heritage of Windows Explorer", does this also mean the 40 crashes it has daily? Even AFTER a clean install?

    seriously, step it up Microsoft.

I am on Windows 7, and I am still not happy.

Right after clean installs, I get "This program has stopped working"

    RIGHT after log on.

    It is BULL CRAP!

And it isn't like I am some computer idiot.. I'm not. I know what I am doing. This is ridiculous.

I have about had it, I might just have to switch over to OSX.

  • @MattP737 lol, what's wrong with your system? I install windows7 for clients almost on a daily, no crashes, no thing. Explorer only crashes for me when my machine is overloaded with shit.

Oh, yeah. Used OSX for about 3 months. Never gonna use it again. It's shit.

  • @JSoundHysteria I have no idea. It's only about 5 months old too.

I have also tried using different installation discs to ensure nothing was corrupt, but still.

It maybe different programs conflicting with each other maybe. I am not sure. Whatever it is, it shouldn't happen.

I just got done with another install.

I wiped all my drives clean. So far so good. But still.

This time I made a system image too, so I can just revert back when it does happen again. hah

  • @MattP737 dude whats ur system specs are u using a 10 year old pc for the install! i did clean install and works fine! update ur drivers and programs

  • @PAKISRULEZ No, it is a 5 month old PC. All drivers updated as well.

  • You know you can double click the tabs to hide the ribbon.

  • Well, I didn't like anything yet.. but lets wait for its release and get on hand to test!!

  • This happend a while ago with MAC OS7.

  • why ruining something that's perfect on windows 7? the whole beauty is in the simplicity of the menus.

  • Guys, this is just the beginning of the development. Windows 8 isn't going to be like Windows 7.. I have full confidence in Microsoft and I'm sure Windows 8 will be as great as Windows 7, stop being negative.

  • Gotta say it looks too busy and overall is just a mess. I like the clean look of past explorers, but I think instead of adding buttons all over the place (which most coincidentally already have shortcuts from the context menu) they would have been better served to do a complete overhaul of the explorer ui.

It hasn't changed in years, and while it is useful the way it is now, a refresh would be interesting to see.

  • omg dont say this is true? are they going to put that big huge junk of buttons on top? that is usless!!! goood they cant do shit anymore!

  • Thanks for your uploads, SuperJaycee13!

They're always on time, too :)

  • @DarkAegixx Ur very much welcome... :)

  • nothing new here... next

  • @djfundamental1 is there any problem with your eyes? :) can't you see any difference compared to Windows 7 Explorer?

  • @SuperJaycee13 What they mean is by comparison to other file managers out there (say, Norton Commander WinNC).

  • @djfundamental1 Your an idiot.
