i DID read the book, but i still just don't understand. bad things happen to EVERYBODY, but not everyone ends up killing themselves. i get the whole snowball thing, it was all building up inside her, but it still seems pathetic to me to kill yourself.

and to leave the tapes, i personally thought that was mean. how would you feel if you knew you were the reason someone killed themself? and leaving clay the tapes when he didnt do anything...

i just couldnt understand that logic AT ALL.

@cookiekhoala she was just depressed. She couldn't admit it, but she was depressed. She wanted people to care but she didn't tell them her problems or struggles. So add the rolling snowball to depression and you get something so strong, you just wouldnt want to deal with it.

The way i see it, if the littlest things are completely breaking you down, then you are WEAK. Life is full of challenges and problems-we ALL face them, and if you try, you CAN get past them. Killing yourself is the road that QUITTERS take, and sending out tapes telling people they made you do it is pathetic. I agree with what Marcus said in the book, that Hannah just wanted an excuse to kill herself.

I have been in the same place as her. I cried at the end,because I knew how she felt.I have tried to kill myself many times. Once before I read this book I even tried overdose. Probably as u can tell I didn't die. After reading this book about me I decided not to suicide. ITS OVER i said to myself (as in I'm not going to hold this pain,angry,etc. I'm getting help before its too late)

It is a fiction novel, so these tapes arent real. She didnt really kill herself, but yes, that's the story line. No disease, it was suicide
