The reality is that they locked us single core users out on purose, they knew what they we're doing. They are doing this on purpose to force upgrades on people when in reality if the ''multicore lock only'' code was removed the game would go past the any key screen for us single core users and we could play on quite low fps but it would be absolutely playable. peace, and stay with the force guys. ;-)

I and i assume on behalf of the PC community suffering from these major bugs say either wait or don't buy it because it will be 60$ spent else where, I ended up buying a PS3 and the PS3 and 360 have had 3 times more updates and fixes than PC users. I would wait IMO.

Oh, come on, not another "multi core only" game...Why they wont let people

with single core to realize they are not compatible with this game by letting them to

launch it at least and see low fps...I really hate this "multi core" lock shit...same issue we had with Codemasters F1 2010...Let's face it : with good GPU you should be able

note:the solution i posted below seems to work for a lot of people but not for me.i have single core so it sucks for me but i thought i would share it with you people.you need 2+ core possessor for this to work I THINK.i am not the one that found the solution and i do not take credits for it so please do not ask me why it's not working for some reason i don't know

1. Hit the start button or press windows key + r to get the run command window.

2. Type in MSCONFIG and hit enter. A system configuration window should pop out.

3. Go to the Boot tab.

4. Click on advance settings.

5. Make sure everything in this box is unchecked. (Number of Processors, Maxmium Memory, PCI Lock, Debug etc..)

6. Reboot.

7. Check your task manager and see if you can see 4 cores under the performance tab.

@asmou2 ...hey well first u need a Core 2 duo 2.93 or anything above... specifically a multicore processor to run this game.... I had a 3.00 Ghz so anywayz,,, then check your task manager in the performance tab it should show two CPU usage windows or more with respect to ur number of cores.

If it does not show that, then just restart your Comp..press F8 or Del.. to go to Bios. you will see an option for number of processors or cores if its disable then change it to enabled n thats it....

Dude I had the same problem once I started playing around with process priority in the windows task manager.

In case you tried setting Black Ops to HIGH process priority try setting it back to normal. Same with Steam.exe process.

Go to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\c­all of duty black ops\Redist".

Run the vcred and the dxsetup in the directx folder and game will be little bit faster... But it still crashes... Waiting for next patch. :(

ok im not sure what file actually did the trick but ill give you the list so you can try it your self or go ya only this one would need it any way

from the root cod bo folder i deleted localization.txt

then i went to players and deleted config_mp

like i said i am not sure what one of thows 2 did it but when i deleted i had steam validate the files after and re-dl them when it did that i was able to play again without the blue ring thing.
