I think Obama should have graciously rejected the prize on account of the co-occurent Cobenhagen summit which is much more important!
Still, I wish he succeeds in his presidency, but I can't see the prize as helpful in any way, when it at the same time undermines it's reputation.

In a few short months, Obama dramatically improved world opinion of the United States, and through his willingness to talk to Muslims rather than demonize them, he's probably reversed a lot of hatred towards the USA, which will ultimately lead to less terrorism. You would also understand that the Taliban is strong in Pakistan. The nobel peace prize is for influencing the course of history resulting in the increase in peace not actually for doing something. War with Iran would have been major. War with N.Korea would be major and possibly nuclear. A conflict with Russia could have become WWIII. Who else that year?

I have always been a liberal/socialist, and think that this award is ridiculous. People should be furious about it. Of course many Americans will agree with it, as they are patriotic. How can a member of a country which advocates all out nuclear war be given a peace prize?
