The amazing thing is that you got two recipients of the Medal of Freedom Award on one stage. Sam Jackson didn't know that the Queen shuts down the show. Aretha ment more to civil rights that most people really know. Her dad was a brilliant civil rights leader/minister in his own right. Aretha's dad funded a lot of the SCLC's work in the early days. So, did Aretha by donating concerts and other monetary contributions. Civil rights people will always show her respect. .
