  • is it really necessary to tie up the alpaca like that i shear my llamas and alpacas without tieing them up like that just fine.

  • this is crule in so many ways. i can't even explain. why do the people have to laugh when the poor alpaca is, clearly, scared to death?

  • @KyleNarayan Crule? they are preventing them from dying of heat stroke and the shots are to ward off worms and disease. Do you take your children to get their hair cut? Do you take them to get their shots? Do they scream and act terrified? Yes. Do you let them run around, a shaggy, diseased mess? No, because its for their own well being and they dont understand that.

  • Oh dang. Oh well. Will just have to think good thoughts for you all. And find a closer place to beg for raw material for yarn. Thanks for answering, btw.

  • In Canada? Alberta maybe? Such nice wool, and beautiful animals.

  • @Ritercrazy This is is British Columbia, Canada.

  • What about the body slam of the alpaca? Even on a mat I never have done and would never do that intentionally and I have been shearing for 7 years and on an alpaca ranch for 10. What about the fiber collecting? Aren't these animals used for their fiber? Aside from the blanket being torn into pieces during collecting and shearing; why start on one of the dirtiest, coarsest parts of the animal? I won't get into differences in technique, but watch that tail please I've been told it bleeds forever.

  • so you sedate them to shave them?

  • no skill

  • its ok, nothing wrong with it

they have to be bound like that for shearing

and their hoofs are like dog's claws with sharp points on them. If you try to shear them without holding them down these hoofs would rip you up badly. The injection you see being given to them is most likely a vaccination shot.

  • jeez do you hear the animal screaming? If it was stressed it would...Most people use a table to shear their animals, and shearing is just the easiest time to do shots. Relax, you don't know what the animal is going through unless you own them.

  • They go through the stages run, scream, freeze (approx.). Either they just skipped and went straight to freeze or they just don't really care. I do have to say that they don't treat them like they're worth $15000 like some of them probably are, and it seems too industrialized for me. Where's the fire? If you really like Alpacas you should read "The Camelid Companion" by Marty McGee. It's really interesting and I learned alot from it. You can get them to stand there calmly but it's a lot of work.

  • @Hector49er I just got 2 free ones :)... they contract that the previous owner gave us said they paid $13,000 dolars for the mother and like 9,000$ for the father, o.o.... they father the owner had already gave away but i got the mother and the baby :)

  • @Click0next surprising, get the book "The Camelid Companion" by Marty McGee Bennett. It will work wonders. Ofcourse it's best to go to one of her clinics soon too.

  • @aajose2008 I agree =\

  • ...What are you complaining about? It's not being hurt...

  • @FrostmourneFK Can you feel it?

  • No, but is that any reason to jump onto your keyboard and start a hate dance because of one video where you were not fully informed?

  • @FrostmourneFK Then -_-

  • poor alpacas

  • They hoofed it all the way here from Peru . . . we're on their migration route.

  • i didn't know we had alpaca's in canada!
