I really enjoy Blue Swede's remake!! It's bouncy, peppy, catchy as hell, and so much fun to listen to you. I'll take this over the Association original ANY DAY!! I don't care what the anti-remake haters say, Blue Swede have done this and this #1 remake, Hooked On A Feeling, a great service!! Hooga-Shaka-Ooga-Ooga indeed!!!
Terrific humorous take on the overly dramatic Association hit and the equally histrionic 5th Dimension rendition. Vern Gosdin, the '70s country singer did a credible straight version of this song as well.
Boy, do I remember this one! Heard it A LOT in 1974. Had all the subtlety of ripping open a bag of your favorite snacks with your bare teeth. Having said that, it should get much more playing time on the radio. The original by The Association is nice, but it has become a pepperoni pizza because of severe overplay.
I'm surprised it has not been "reggaed" like "baby I love your way" and many others in the 80's. This version slowed a bit could very well be adapted with a few other changes.
You people are wrong, top ten song in 1974, listen to the crap today......better then than now...GREAT FOR THE TIME....SEE YA...BLUE SWEDE WAS GREAT......THANKS FOR POSTING....
Ouch! 1974? Well, for whatever it's worth, thanks for putting this out here. It's simply a song I never thought I would hear again. I was 14, which that in itself is hard to believe. :-)

Funny thing The group was Swedish,but when they sang,they sounded British(to me anyway). Anyhow, great uptempo remake of The Association classic.

@cmulwee001
In Sweden we are taught british english in school so we have a tendency to sound british rather then American.

@odetomt
Oh, that could explain why the well known Swedish group, ABBA sounded British as well when they sang!
Interesting stuff, thank you.

@odetomt My condolences!

I think that this version was way way better than the Association.

The Association had a lot more than the three that get played to death.

Are you sure it's not the Association on speed? Interesting take on a classic song.

Yes it's true. They had to be coached on English versions of the songs they covered.

What crap! Blue Swede sucked and ruined great songs.

So I take it you're undecided on this one?

I am sorry but their version SUCKS compared to The Associations!!
ericnwren 3 years ago
That's kind of harsh! I never claimed it was better. I just thought it was very different from the ballad. To each his own , I guess.

Thank you for adding this delightfully lighthearted version of "Never My Love." Great video as well!

Glad to do it. It was my of my favorite 45's growing up. Surprised this version hasn't been covered more often.
