Beautiful landing at a beautiful, humongous yet orderly airport. Amazing that this MD88 seems to have a very sturdy wings, not a tad sign of fluttering while flying or at landing. I once occupied a seat at the same position on a B747 and man.. the wings fluttered like crazy, it's scary ! Wonder if this has anything to do with nanomaterials. :O
@superyusrie I agree, I LOVE ATL! We fly a lot through Dallas (DFW) and Atlanta and I think Atlanta is much better because you can SEE all the taxiing a lot of the runways from the terminals. DFW has TERRIBLE sightlines from the terminals.
@superyusrie That fluttering is called Wing Flex. Even the MD-88 in this vid has a slight wing flex, not very easy to notice especially flying in smooth air. But wing flex is actually what you're suppose to see because a flexing wing is still strong. Imagine a Non-Flexing wing something like a ritz cracker. It can break easily if you try to bend it. But a wing on a plane doesn't break because of the tough materials used to make them and their light weight, that's also part of the reason.
@codysimpsonluver1 dude md 88s are old no updated electronics there are only used for short domestic the md 88 and md 90 are at least 20 years old man I guess you dont fly regularly...? or you would know. but its cool md88s are old. cheap to fly for delta.. before northwest take over delta only had 737 800 and 757 md 88 and md 90 for domestic routes now they have all of northwests aircraft like 320s 319's and a330s..... safe travels
Wow, from approach to landing, to arriving at the gate. That's never been done before, and wow what a funny captain. What was his name, Captain Crunch? XD
do delta md88s have tvs, im flying from orlando to atlanta on a 757 wich i know has tvs but than im going atlanta to providence on a md88. are there tvs on tehm?
lmao i searched delta flight and found this is was thinking awsome nice Mad Dog ride then i heard your voice and wondered that sounds like musicfreakcc and i checked and started laughing
u guys realize they make vehicle choices by number of passengers and then using algorithms to predict last minute bookings, economical routes, next destinations, etc
There are more than just 2 CR9s. EV operates 5 for DL, OH operates 13 for DL, 9E operates 16 for DL, and there are more regional carries that operate them for DL, as well.

Atlanta is like the biggest hub for Delta Airlines.

Hmm seems like the Top 3 used airlines are Airtran, Delta - Continental, and American Airlines.

great footage. love riding in airplanes, hate the wait in the air, but landing and taking off are the best parts.

Interestingly, I booked two round-trip flights from Rochester to Atlanta on MD-88s, but my tickets were recently rescheduled to CRJ-900s.
musicfreakcc 2 years ago
I took a 757 from ATL to SFO. For some reason, Delta has one or two 757 flights a day on that route with the rest being 767's.

thyssenelevator97 2 years ago
Last time I went to Las Vegas, I flew in a 767-400! That was before Delta converted them for international use.
musicfreakcc 2 years ago
There are still a couple in domestic configuration, but they won't be around for much longer. I flew on a -400 in January to SLC in First Class!
