  • That scared the crap out of me at 0:10.

  • Does anyone else think it's strange that the announcer says she wants romance, but then she says I want adventure?

  • She dreamed of adventure, not romance! Ha. Damn, she's hot. Just got this one on blu-ray. Personally, I think it's Disney's best animated feature. My faves may be Jungle Book and Little Mermaid, but this is still probably their over all best.

Do you agree this movie was robbed at the oscars over Silence of the Lambs even though Silence was a great horror thriller? i did saw both at 9/10 that year in theaters. Belle is hot i agree, my favorite brunette with Jamine and my fave disney movie is Pinocchio along with Emperor's New Groove and Aladdin with this as well.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yeah, I agree it was robbed, and they further insulted animation fans by creating a category largely to snub animation in the Best Picture category for future Oscars. Amazingly, they still nominated Up last year, I believe, which is awesome. People must have been complaining about how bias the Oscars seem to be against certain types of films. Anyway, I also feel Monsters, Inc. definitely should have beaten Shrek for Best Animated Feature.

  • @slave2moonlight

I liked UP but i still think Fantastic Mr. Fox was the best animated movie of last year. I wish that Avatar could have won best picture over Hurt Locker since i am a Cameron fan or i wished that Terminator 2 could have been nominated for best picture since it was 1991's best movie, but you did liked Silence of the Lambs right? i can't believe my mom took me to see that when i was 9 going on 10 in a theater. Did Spirited Away deserve best 2002 animated movie?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Well, I haven't gotten to see Fantastic Mr. Fox yet. I haven't seen Hurt Locker either, but I feel that there have to have been better films out there than Avatar, more deserving of Best Picture. Frankly, I think "Up" is one of them. Definitely consider it a far better film than "Avatar". I really don't even see why Avatar was even up for Best Picture.

As for which ones should have one in certain years, you'd have to list the nominees for me for a reminder.

  • @slave2moonlight

Well because Avatar right now is the highest grossing movie ever and because it's James Cameron because he's a respected filmmaker who gave us classics like T1, T2, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss and Titanic, besides Avatar has pushed CGI technology to a new level as Cameron took 5 years to make it and has been his pet project since 98. I think your jealous of Avatar's success and i think it's 2009's best movie and one of the best Sci-fi movies in recent memory.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Ha, actually John, none of those points make it qualified to be called "Best Picture". The story was a lame retread and the characters were not endearing at all. I have no reason to be jealous because I didn't have a film in the running for Best Picture myself, and it didn't win anyway. As for its popularity, frankly, I just don't get it because there's no good reason for it that I have seen.

  • @slave2moonlight

So you think Avatar is a retread and think The Matrix is original right? well The Matrix is just a live-action Ghost in The Shell movie, i urge you to see Ghost in The Shell because you'll never look at The Matrix the same way again because it's the same as Matrix only better. You'll say "WOW, this influenced The Matrix" and would you compare The Matrix to Star Wars, Blade Runner and Dark City?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Did I say Matrix was original? Well, for live-action it probably was. Would I compare Matrix to Star Wars, Blade Runner, or Dark City? Moreso Dark City, and not really Star Wars.

  • @slave2moonlight

The Matrix isn't really original, it's Japanese animation done live-action. If you have GITS (Ghost in The Shell) in your apartment then you should watch it, if not then the next time you see your parents even to pick up some stuff you should get it and you'll see where The Matrix comes from. It's the best animated movie of the 90's in my opinion.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I believe I have it here and will definitely check it out. Considering the Disney material from the 90's, I'm pretty sure there is no way I'm going to feel it is the best animated movie of the 90's, but I still might like it quite well. In my opinion though, Disney did their best animated work in the 90's, and since Disney is my favorite above anything else...

  • @Johnlindsey289 does ghost in the shell have the same existential storyline or just similar style action scenes?

  • I saw this on a field trip before christmas break when i was 9 years old in one of my city's theaters, i loved it and had the hots for Belle. The second best animated movie of the 90's with Ghost in The Shell being number one and Mononoke being third with Aladdin being fourth.
