I have just purchased pro tools 10, I cannot get it to record, I have done all I can think of the time line goes across but I don't see the wave line. can you help me

How can I do this in Cubase 6?... There seems to be no way of mixing the audio with reverb and compression so the singer can hear themselves whilst singing in Cubase 6...

Is there a way to do this, or is Pro Tools, Logic Pro 9, the only ones that will do this?
