You know that the human eye can only tell the difference till around 28 fps.... So unless your eye is somehow enhanced and can see past 30 fps then...

The human eye can see a lot more than 28 frames a second. That is a common mistake. You can clearly see and feel the difference between 30 and 60 FPS.

Try it yourself! Play a game om 60 fps and then put fraps on 30 fps recording a difference between day and night.

Oh, and this is in DX9.

DX11 only for ATi (well excluding NV GTX 4xx) because he uses a 275 in this, which is a DX10 card.

But DiRT 2 only has the DX9 and DX11 API, so essentially it would look better with a DX11 GPU.

Even my 8800 GTX can max out this game on 1080p yes yes its direct 10 and i got a stable 45 fps instead of 60 but heck its a 3 year old card :P

I am still using my 8800 GTX lol it is a beast of a card but I will be updating to the GTX 300 Series when it comes out but almost 4 years of being able to play games on peak settings is awesome.

@DJBACON8D - lol, of course you're gonna get dizzy if you play for like 10 hours straight with it, you just have to get use to it, I don't have the proper kit, so I'm just using the Red & Blue glasses for now, and I know when I started using it, I got headaches, but after a couple days of playing games with it, my headaches went away.

and there's nothing wrong with first person shooters with 3D Vision.

Left 4 Dead is a FPS, and it's amazing with 3D Vision.

but, I'll tell you one thing, even with the crappy red & blue glasses I was using (to get a taste for it) I still prefered playing with the glasses, than not

you simply cannot compare eyefinity to 3D Vision, it's simply a huge difference, I know most people think "Oh it's gimmicky" but you have to just try it to know.

you do need to tweak it a little bit, there's extra options in the Nvidia control panel, you need to activate to increase convergence.

COD2 looks really good, same with Left 4 Dead, lots of others look good, but those stick out in my mind the most.

when you get those red & blue glasses, I suggest trying COD2, zoom in with a weapon, and quickly switch from enabling to disabling 3D Vision.

when I did that, I'm like "I can ACTUALLY see the difference in distance from the rear sight to the front sight"

and then when I switched back to 2D, it just looked flat...

I really don't think it's getting the attention it deserves.

Let me know when you try it, and tell me what you think.

PS: May get a headache till you get use to it, lol

When I went back to 2D, the rear sight looked like it was the same distance as the front sight.

most people are so use to playing games that way tho, that they just think it looks normal. lol

You should get the core i7 920 from microcenter if you live next to one, it is $200 there, and invest $50 in a 1366 motherboard, and $40 extra in ram for triple channel. for abot $100, you will be able to upgrade your cpu and ram more in the future. Something you may want to consider. Visit newegg(online only), tigerdirect(online only), or microcenter. I have same processor, not overclocked, with 4870 512mb, 2x2gb ddr2 @ 800mhz, and run it at 1080p 4xaa, 16xaf,everything else max w 35-45 fps.

The amount that the core i7 920 is overclockable (to about 4.5 ghz) is more than the core i7 870. Plus you also need to take a look ate the fsb. The core i7 that you want to buy has a QPI of 2500, and the core i7 920 has a QPI of 4800, there is a bit of a difference there, it is like having more lanes on the highway, so that your fast car, can travel at a even faster speed, my point is that it transports the data much quicker. Live near microcenter, get it there. The most expensive is(1366)$975.

@abooguh You cant overclock a 920 to 4.5ghz without very high vcore and watercooling. In standard overclocking the two cpu's overclock very similar (4.2ghz), but the i7 860 is cheaper and have nearly the same performance (not noticeable)

You have to take into account that if you get a core i7 920 and and motherboard for that you will be able to upgrade much more in the future, and you really also have to look at the fsb (front side bus) this really matter in the performance of the cpu. sorry man, don't want to argue, just wanted to tell you. socket 1366 supports 36x lanes, and socket 1156 supports only 32x lanes, better for future sli. And you will most likely have 6 core support for the core i9. You can upgrade in 4 years maybe

I know how high you can put the game, I have the same cpu, not overclocked, 4870 512mb, 2x2gb ddr2 @800 mhz. You must be able to play this on 1080p, either 4xaa or 8xaa, 8xaf or 16xaf, and everything else max, with vsync off. Pretty good upcoming build but you should do what I said in the above posts.
