They forgot to add in a very important variable into that equation: Kobe Bryant.
The variable "Kobe Bryant" can break off from the triangle offense, and shoot at any spot on the floor he wishes, and by drawing double teams everytime he catches the ball, he opens up even more shot opportunities for other players.
Without kobe, we would have 340 shot opportunities, with kobe, times that by 100.
This just about says it Phil Jackson is the greatest coach of all time just as is Michael Jordan the greatest basketball player of all time if only they had more time together
imagine the miami heat using triangle offense, i'd retire from basketball, with players like wad and james and Bosh thats like MJ's bull's triangle offense.
If you never knew wat Triangle offence was.you will think its an offence run just for superstars to take whatever shot whenever they want like MJ and Kobe haha
poor kobe...his b**ch wife finally left him> at least now he can get all the punani literally almost every single girl in los angeles and the rest of the world has been offering him for the last decade......first line of duty> go back to philippines and kiss that girl he ditched bcuz he was married.lol
This a bullshit explanation.. Trying to make the triangle more sophisticated than what it really is. When you got a center its called "Spacing" Fuck outta here.
@tazzenders Loool ok. Your team who has never practiced this; decides to try it in a game and apparently you gain a 16 point advantage when you were down 11? Sure thing bud.
too bad phil jackson coached teams doesn't run the triangle everytime they go down the floor, they have plays specifically made for kobe, gasol, or Jordan, Pippen, etc.
@RawButtWin11 even if u have the best technique if u dont do it the right way or u have players who are incompitent in performing such a task then it does not matter at all... teams in the nba knows what to do with the lakers anyways... just let kobe ballhog and take all the shots till he wears himself out...
The players change through time, but the system remains the same. With Chicago Bulls 91-93, 96-98 and the LA Lakers 00-02, 09-10 all had one thing in common, Phil Jackson and the Triangle Offense.

@highflyer1985 Other teams have used the triangle offense, but weren't very successful... so I'd say it's the players that make the difference, not so much the system. Jordan, Pippen, and O'Neal and Kobe... with a great supporting cast for both the Bulls and Lakers, how do you stop that? Not trying to take anything away from the triangle offense, it is a great weapon... but how effective would it be if your players were average players, and not superstars? ;-)
@chefdizzy1 I still say it's the system, but for the sake of argument you do make a valid point. I t never hurts to have a few superstars when running the triangle offense
@highflyer1985 We both make valid points, and we basically agree 100%... being the fact that we are saying the same thing, more or less. As I said in my previous post, I am not taking anything away from the offense, it's a great weapon, when run properly... But superstars make the difference. Just always wondered how a team full of average players would do running this system. A team like Charlotte, for example...

@humzakhans123 Well by that logic I guess Doug Collins is also the best "couch". He "couched" MJ during his early years and with the Wizards.

@tazzenders If you practiced it, then why would your coach only decide to "try" it as a "last-resort" measure when you're down 11 points?

@Xzero1 we had two quarters left. if it didn't work, we'd have gone back to 2 - 2 - 1. fortunately it did, so we stuck to it.
