Such a great song. Paul is presently a Senior Lecturer in Systematic Theology and Head of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King's College London. Who knew?!!
On this song and "Flippin' to the A Side," some people are getting all caught up in these bands looking effeminate. Did these people live in the '80s? This was the way people rocked.
This is so awesome I just don't know which order I should say this. Not only is this a great Canadian song, but also a great '80s song. Or, not only is this a great '80s song, but also a great Canadian song.
Reminds me of being in grade eleven. Hearing this on friday night videos was so cool. One of the more popular songs along with Devo, That's good. Or relax By frankie goes to hollywood. The eighties were the best time of my life.
I agree. I just discussed this song with our drummer last night and will be looking at covering it. It's a brilliant song. Great arrangements and vocals.
I do remember this song very well, I was necking with my first gf at the time it was on the radio... it always brings back good mems.. and thanks for posting it :)
Watching this video throws me for such a loop. I became acquainted with Dr. Janz when he was teaching philosophy in Langley, BC. He's a gifted academic. It's hard to imagine a professional philosopher with a background in pop music--amazing guy.
Are you serious? I grew up (mostly) in Langley! Would have loved to know that one of my favorite musicians was in the area! What years did he teach? Or is he still there?
We lived in Lions Bay at the same time Paul did. My daughter Terra used to hang out with his daughter, and I knew his wife. It's been a long time since then. I hoped he would continue his music career, I liked his music. I hear he's a Doctor of theology now. Great song!
A flashy and colorful Canadian Talent that gifted the juno categorys. A pleasurable voice with the off the wall attitude. Wish the voice was still alive a kicking out tunes today, Mr. Janz we need a come back. The itch still exists!!
Hi-Paul sang with Ken&Danny Janz,JackStenekes,Vern Giesbrecht(my cousin),Herb Remple in Deliverance. They were the 70's version of Delirious- in Germany.
Man, fair play. I thought I would just type I go to pieces on the search, hoping to find our who sung this song and there it was... Paul Janz!! Incredible! I have not heard this song for over 20 years!! Awesome and it was so funny to see the video again after such a long time! the song still rocks too! HA HA
Trinity Western University in Langley, BC (near Vancouver) back in 2004. He was a professor in the Theology department. Wish I would have taken the time to get to know him while I had the chance.
He has since moved on to a position in London, England.
It is the same Paul Janz. He's teaching at King's College in London, England. I LOVE his music, especially this tune. Tell me you can listen to this and not want to get up and dance.
i've always loved this - very fun dancy-rock. more trivia! some of you may be interested to learn that this video features the keyboardist from Glass Tiger and the guitarist from The Odds.
A slight correction - that is Steve Drake from The Odds on guitar, but the keyboard player is Colin Wiebe, currently playing with Randy Bachman - you can find him in vids on youtube with bachman.
and I enjoyed the era of layered vocals. Clearly in that regard they borrowed from Bands like Chicago TOTO, Journey etc. Also like me they are Canadian. I didn't realize that was his brother and thanks for the upload
Oh man! You totally RULE for posting this. I thought I was the last of the 12 people that remembered this tune. When it came out I was impressed by the layered vocals...like 'Leave It' by Yes. It's catchy and crafted, should have gone farther than it did, but that's the biz. For totally useless trivia, Paul is Darryl Janz's cousin if you're in Calgary and watch the CFCN news.

I am very happy to see that there are people who still remember Paul Janz.
He is my dad's cousin and they were both singers of the band Deliverance.
And I am going down the same road.
If you're curious, just go onto YouTube and listen to "Sweeter Than Wine".
