They are washing their hands- because I think the director wanted to use the phrase in korean 'washing the hands', not committing any crimes, sins, anymore. or out of gangs. This is my guess though.
Erm more kind of an urban legend. I love stories like this and I have done a lot of research on this. There were always tales of the barberous butcher and the pie maker in victorian england but so far no one has found any record of it actually happening, the most solid source so far is a penny dreadful as they were called, which was the insperation for this musical
Is this the japanese/korean version of TBoST? Like...I know that these people are playing it, But i Wonder if someone would upload the song in this version, it sounds awesome.
I do have a question though.....This isn't meant to be racist if it sounds that way, but most Koreans (well, I guess Asians in general) have dark hair. What would they do about Johanna? Cause Both Sweeney and Anthony refer to her as having yellow hair. Perhaps they change the lyrics?
They're actors. They act. Which means that if need be, they dye their hair or apply stage makeup. Your question isn't racist, just painfully obvious and the answer is too redundant.
Overall, I think this is pretty good, but there's one thing I liked better in the original version: When Sweeney walks to the door and SLAMS it with so much power ans intensity in the end. I thought that was an ingenious way to end it - and the one thing that makes the original slightly better.
I agree! I kind of like the coats ascending towards the sky as well! It's kind of like they represent all of Sweeney's innocent victims he murdered going to Heaven.
Yeah, I agree! And if you notice on 3:15 all of the "survivors" are the only ones who kind of stay in their place as all the other killed people go off to the sides XD Well I think that!
amazing. i dont understand korean but this seriously gave me chills! much better i think than the original (with angela lansbury etc..) but thats mainly b/c its a much more modern production. very dark and very theatrical, i LOVE IT!!! wish the movie was this good
wow this is a very elaborate version... still has the theater symbolism and yet still creepy and dark... go Korea! perfect timing on the songs even though its not English... i like
How brilliant is this staging!? All the supporting characters involved, good, bad, whatever, washing their hands of the sorry business. I wish all of this production was available to be watched somehow.
Not hanging people, taking off and hanging people coats! it alludes that the show is now over cuz the show starts as the ansemble wears the coats...so it's final scene..it's time to take off and hang the coat I think :)
In that case it really lends a surreal, supernatural feel. Like we're actually seeing them in the afterlife, washing away their sins, or attempting to.
The sopranos are amazing. These ballads are hard as hell because you have to sing at the top of your range. BRAVO! for everyone and everything!

what could the jackets symbolize?

Maybe the lives that Sweeney took? They could be the victims' jackets.

I think, they're washing their hands clean of blood.
ihadtrouble 3 years ago
that would make sense, because in a way everyone killed a person in this show

The mist on the stage created the perfect atmosphere for this song, perfectly chilling and representitive of the spirit of this story.
