@PatchouliNoir Well the Bible describes Jesus as the Creator in places like Colossians 1.Also the Bible says God is our only Savior and in places like Titus 2:13 call Jesus "our Great God and Savior".Now, Jesus is God but the historic Christian belief of the trinity is that Jesus is not the Father, he is the Son. He was crying out to his Father on the cross and praying to his Father.God is one in being, three in person.
God is all loving and he created man, the bible, and the devil to supernaturally torment us all. And stray from the path of the righteous even for a moment and you'll find yourself in hell for eternity. So much love, so much love.
@Synth3t1cs how close-minded can you be? You've conveniently 'forgotten' about the part where Jesus paid for our sins so we have a chance to be forgiven. Even if you stray from the path of the righteous even for a moment you *won't* find yourself in hell for eternity. So much love, so much love.
@heyitsmiLi First, get your own material. Copy / pasting my own words just proves you have no argument. That's the first sign of a weak mind.
Second, assuming your place in heaven is a sin.
Third, Jesus may have died for our sins, but guess what? The devil, demons and other supernatural, unseen entities are still around. They haven't gone anywhere. It almost makes you feel the occultists are right when they say God is both God and the devil.
@Synth3t1cs Really? I have a weak mind? I was throwing your words back at you seeing as they're wrong.
And you really have no idea about spirituality, do you? God isn't the devil, the 2 are separate, opposing forces. The occultists don't claim the devil is God, they just want to rebel against good so they worship the devil. And you're right, demons are still around. They're commanded by the devil. Where did you get the idea that God got rid of all demons? If he did, you wouldn't need saving.
@heyitsmiLi Wrong is a matter of opinion. As for my concerns about the duality of God, that's something all people have to confront. Just like Christians must confront the idea that even though the messiah was suppossed to bring an end to original sin, pain and suffering, all of those things are still around. Women still suffer pain in childbirth. Men still toil to bring food from the land.
@Synth3t1cs Where did you get the idea that Christ came to rid the world of all those things? He never said he would (like I said, wrong). Get your facts right. He said he'd save the world (us) by granting us forgiveness. But he never guaranteed it would be automatic. Salvation isn't automatically granted; that would defeat the purpose itself. As human beings are in nature sinful, why would he forgive us if we weren't truly sorry in the first place?
@heyitsmiLi Where do I get these ideas? Its called the Old Testament, aka The Torah. And its the book that predicts the coming of the messiah, and if you believe the Christians, it also proves Jesus is the messiah. (Even though if you read the predictions he doesn't fit all the criteria.)
They say Jesus is a descendant of King David, and yet Christians say he's the son of God. Well you can't be both. His lineage comes through his father Joseph. Again, contradictions no one wants to address.
@Synth3t1cs Jesus is 'a descendant' of King David, from BOTH his parent's lineages. If you read the genealogies, they list different individuals, but both reaching back to King David and beyond. .........
However, Joseph is not the biological father but the legal father. Remember, Jesus was born miraculously through Mary who was a virgin at the time.
Jesus is the messiah who fulfilled more than 300 prophecies found in the Old Testament, from His birth right up to His death & resurrection.
@WMsReligion Of course I've read the claims that Jesus was a descendant from his mother's side. But when it comes to a king's lineage, its the father who counts.
And Jesus can't be a descendant through his father because, legal or not, Josheph wasn't really his dad. I'm sure you know the Jews value their blood lines. And they say that the soul resides in the blood.
As for the prophecies, I'm still not convinced that Jesus wasn't playing into those prophecies, as part of his act.
@PatchouliNoir What deusregum said and also Jesus claimed things about himself that would be blasphemous for any normal human to say such as "Before Abraham was, I AM", " the Way, the Truth, and the Life", "the Great Shepherd", "the Resurrection and the Life", ect, and in John 14, he even claimed that if we have seen him, we have seen the Father for he and his Father are ONE.Thomas even said to Jesus "my Lord and My God" in John 20, did Jesus rebuke him?No, rather encouraged belief in himself
@PatchouliNoir In dealing with religious hypocrites, Jesus never came out and announced that He was God, the second person of the Trinity. (Elsewhere, He did - see John 10:30; He also received worship and acknowledgement as God (Matt. 14:33; John 20:28) and of course, there are several places in the NT where the Apostles teach that Jesus was God....etc.) If you read Mark 10:18 thoughtfully, you can see that he didn't saying that He WASN'T God -- just that ONLY God is good. And Jesus was GOOD!
@deusregnum I would like to add to your comment. The Pharisees criminalized Jesus because of "blasphemy", which was that Jesus The Christ claimed to be GOD.
Presuppositional apologetics in action. Love it!
