@chastell 2) Also he was a complete asshole about the whole Rocky thing. Stallone only got the idea of Rocky from that fight. Rocky was NOT about Wepner. Just about a bum getting his shot and making the most of it. The studio offered Wepner 1% of the gross just to use his name in promoting Rocky. Wepner chose a meager lump sum instead because he didn't thing Rocky would be successful. Rocky became huge so Wepner decided to sue and continued to do so on up till Rocky Balboa. 30 years. Fuck Wepner

Ali was the only person to knock this man OFF HIS FEET. Wepner never claimed he was never "put down" he has taken a knee but until that day he had never been KNOCKED OFF HIS FEET. Chuck did fight true legends whether from boxing or wrestling: Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali and André The Giant. Who can say that, that is really something. Nobody hit him the way Liston hit him, he said in an interview. Every time Liston hit him, he broke something in Chuck's face, according to Wepner. He should have gotten more money out of Sly. That man has a lot of heart and fought his guts out, he did the best with what he had.

Some people are WAY too attached to their favorite fighters. Wepner says Ali was one of the greatest, including Louis and maybe Marciano. What's wrong with saying that? That's his opinion, and he is complementing all those fighters by putting them in the top 3. That should make everyone happy.

Marciano was undefeated because part of his career was orchestrated by the Mafia. The Mob controlled who won and lost at that time. He was scheduled to take a fall and the only way he could avoid it was to get out of the ring by "retiring" don't get me wrong, he was great but his undefeated record was dubious.
