  • guys a really good bass player , but his music has always irritated me......yes i am lame.

  • its all good, i appreciate you being honest. honest ppl rock

    :)

  • What a load of absolute bollocks !

  • Whooh. Wicked.

  • I'd say Tom Waits was a big influence on this album especially. Pretty cool minimalist setup on this one, bass and cello as the only melodic instruments, and I'm always down with some tablas.

  • That's a really good cellist.

  • F'n amazing. Love love love

  • I am so glad Les has nothing better to sing about than politics.Grow up and get a life dude.Than mabye you will play some music people would actually buy.I'll take sarah over hillary clinton,so would bill clinton......L O L

  • Les Claypool is a hell of an eccentric guy!

  • *stops* yayyyyy *BOW BIDDY BOW BOW*

  • That simple C would think its complementary. Haha. They played this in Flagstaff.

Bender, you must have dirt in your eyeballs. Les will be forever sexy

  • Thank-you Les, thank-you much!

  • this is the dumbest thing i have ever seen...i liked primus but this is just dumb...talking about sarah palin? wtf?

  • this is an awsome song and hes insulting sarah palin

  • uhh... this isn't primus. if you don't want to accept something different, then don't. get over it.

  • This is the dumbest thing you have ever seen? Wow man, go outside more often. This is pure EPIC. Les claypool=musical god.

  • damn les is starting to look old =(

  • The cello in this song is amazing

  • I know! Who the hell is that playing that cello - I've never heard one sound like that before! Love it!

    Love the song itself, too.

  • its a les claypool clone thats why its so amazing

  • Here's a guess.... you know those hollow bodied metal guitars that are usually used in blues and slide? Maybe that's just a cello version... if that's even possible, but that thing has GOT to be heavy if that's the case... maybe it's body has some sort of aluminum or something in it...

  • i think its just how a cello sounds like when theres a mic attached, apocoliptica has the same sound...idk if i spelled the band name rite

  • Oh! Or maybe he's just using a certain type of nylon strings... idk. I'm curious! haha

  • I wonder if one could use pedal effects on a cello?

Anyway, I don't think I could ever get tired of this song.

She got TITS made of recycled bottles...LOL!

  • ha. Shyeah. I totally agree. Hmm... that's quite a concept but I don't think they're using a pedal... it just sounds too raw for that. Who knows! haha

  • yeah you can use effects on a cello. If you check the fungi bands version of "One better" the cello does the saxophone part pretty sweetly.

  • the guy on the cello is Sam Bass, hes extrordinary.

  • Just saw him last weekend in Boulder, CO. Videos/ albums do not do him justice. See him live. His percussionists are *AMAZING* ( as is Les).

  • This tour was sooooo awesome I was on shrooms at the show in Chicago and Les put me in my place! LES IS A GOD

  • Always a pleasure to watch Les play the bass. Cool cello lick too. You have to love the masks also.

  • I wonder how many people in that audience have actually heard of Les prior to that.

  • Best bassist. Period.

  • LOL! I just love how the audience is standing so awkwardly. His songs aren't much for dancing or anything. So, they probably don't know what to do or think hahaha. But I give the guy in front credit for trying to bob up and down. A for effort. Also when they thought the song was over they cheer and music starts again.

  • @SumDumGoi Its definetly for dancin dude.

    Les plays boogy blues dude

  • if you look at claypool's entire catalog of music from the very beginning to the most recent, you will realize that this is a man who started as a genius and never stopped getting any better, and you will never in your life pick up some new claypool music that doesn't blow your mind. keep on fishin buddy!

  • So true. Claypool was born a genius. His book is great, his movie is great and his music is mind blowing. When you listen to les claypool you dont even need to be high to trip out because your mind ascends to a totally differently level.

    Best.Musician.Ever

  • @sociopathix That's true man.

I saw him the other day, even though I'd been deliriously ill for days, I managed to go down and even though i couldn't take drugs coz i was sick :(

It still kicked ass and felt... just .... right..... :D

  • Lol @ 2:20. The crowd's like "Yay! It's over!" then "Bowbedebowbow!" and it continues for another 1:20.

  • that is great and the crowd doesn't know what to do and for us fans of claypool we all would have been screaming the whole time.

    Primus sucks

  • this is awesome....even though tabla player is weak.....and doesn't play the dugha properly!

  • O.o well considering he wrote it I think hes playing it properly.

  • I didn't say he is playing improperly......I said he is weak.....do you play tabla?

  • You're weak.

  • @shamsankar1 yeah i don't think he is a tabla player, he's normally on marimba instruments.

    Buts props for variety

  • His music is its own category, he's very Frank Zappa influenced, along with world music influenced, and not to mention his signature cartoon voice. This piece is just pure gold.

  • id rather listen to and his other stuff than the scremo emo scene shit today, any day.

  • claypool's like a mad scientist, and only he could make it work for him.

  • I think that Les is a weird son of a bitch. However, he is still and will always be one of my biggest influences. This is the man that made me pick up a bass and has continued to make me push myself to the next level. Fuck yes, his music is strange, but lets see very many people that have the skill that he has on the bass. I haven't seen any yet.

  • Played at the ballroom in buffalo last night...it was sick...mmmmmm the cookies...does anyone remember hearing or seeing those before/after the show???

  • Very cool. Bless Claypool for continuing to experiment with and expand his sound instead of homogenizing it into something commercial.

Love the look and the high wierdness of everything as well...really impressed.

  • Terrific!

  • Saw them perform last night - they were fuckin insane, buddy on the bongo drums plays the xylophone like nothing I've ever seen!

  • he shreds that cello!XD (if it is a cello that violin looking thing)

  • thank you les for giving me the reason to live!!! Your bass gives me hope for the future. I look up to you and look forward to all the music that's to come!

  • i'm a big fan of primus and claypool. highball with the devil is one of my fav album.

but i think this new album kinda sux.

  • I'm going to see him tonight

  • damn!!!!!!!!

  • How was it ^^?

  • Best show I've ever seen, hands down. Even the opening band was awesome.

  • reminds me of tom waits

  • I love it

    it's time for new minds.

  • this is probably the weirdest song evr to be played on any late night show ever. I love when they stop playing for a second and everyone they they were done.

  • Love the tablas.

  • did anybody notice that youtube is censoring avery bad words

    thats bullshit!!!

    anyway Les Claypool is awesome

  • He looks exactly like bill engvall in the beginning

  • Bow didda bow bow bow! That was amazin!

  • its really surprizing to see someone like claypool on jimmy kimmel live. Did he want to do it, or was it for money or is claypool cool with jimmy.

  • i dunno but he has played late night talk shows with primus before so hes definitely not above it.

  • jimmy kimmel has a lot of good bands on his show that you'd never expect to see. its sweet

  • I like this song, kinda has a Tom Waits vibe to it.... I saw him recently and got to meet him, amazing show if you get a chance to see him !!!

  • Les has his own style. It falls under no gentre. I really enjoy everything he has done. One thing that will never change about him is his sense of humor. LOL

  • I'm glad you said this, because I wouldn't have known otherwise.

  • i love it

  • damn les got old.. :))

  • this is the weirdest music ever. ha ha

  • i also saw these 4 in Spokane so awesum

  • awesome! plain and simple!

  • I saw these guys live in Spokane it was a great show

  • mee too it was fucking amazing!!!

  • the music in this album remminds me of a more tribal kinda feeling there is no electric guitars and not much cymbal usage on the drums. as far as lyrics go its the same ol zappa 'esqu lyrics that claypools always been writing which ive always dug.

  • at 2:22 funny ass hell

  • at 2:22 funny ass hell

  • i love how he still uses the sandman!

  • umm, hell ya!

I have one of those, so bad ass

  • lol at 2:21

  • LOL they thought it was over!

  • I love the people in the crowd who have no idea whats going on but are still trying to look cool and dance cause they know they're on tv!

  • yeah stupid crowd i likeed 2:23 when they thing they ended but no, anyway the stupid ass crowd is too quiet

  • this album is so raw and primal

    I LOVE IT!

  • Reminds me of Frank Zappa.

  • NO... It does NOT!

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit that weird....

  • This music is soo wierd sounding I LOVE IT!!!!

  • Well said Cornflarks

  • fuck europe

  • Les is the man!!He should tour europe!!!!!!el bastardo

  • this is the shhiiit!!!!

  • THIS IS SOME WEIRD SHIT

  • Shes got tits made out of recycled bottles.

  • i disagree

  • hi im kyle. you must be closed minded?

  • I may have to steal this comment. Brilliant!!

  • lol les is such a baddass!

  • Awesomely wierd.

  • props to les is amazing on eletric but on uprite he is still great!

  • I heard this song on a KRAB radio, I mean,a loveline interview. bad fuckin ass,

  • this song isn't the best off "fungi and foe," though it is one of my faves. yes the new album is more mellow and not crazy like les' usual stuff. but that doesn't make it not good in my opinion. be it primus, frog brigade or solo, i love anything les claypool does!!

  • im like one les claypool's #1 fans i think everything he does is pure genius and with that song it was more focusing on the music it was extremely weel put together!

  • I love it... Les always works w/ great musicians and keeps the weirdness flowing freely. Put on a damn good show in Dallas last night, too.

  • Gee golly gosh, I sure am glad we have such dedicated you-tube response-givers as you strapping young gents to let us know whether music is good or not.

    Fuckin naysayers. Kiss my grits.

  • I don't think it's about trying to be deep or cultured, leave that to coffee house intellectuals and Art Critics like you with all your knowledge of "substance" and "meaning" and don't let me forget "humor".

  • See, you fail to realize the fact that not all people listen to music to integrate themselves into some kind of meaning such as deep or cultured, or for the very factor that it's strange. Music is music and unfortunately for you that won't change because of your belief that this isn't music, and some people generally enjoy what others do not. You claim that this lacks substance, so tell me, what is substance? You seem to know enough about everything to define substance in music for me.

  • Ouch.....well put. Wanna fight about it? LOL....remind me never to piss you off.

  • haha i wasn't pissed of really I just don't think someone can press their opinion on others which he was doing basically.

  • Yah, I know.....shame he can't enjoy this.

  • YES!! Les Claypool is the man!!

  • claypool is an extraordinary talented musician, but the music he does seem to be a joke...

  • Looks like Les has been playing some Bioshock in anticipation of the second one.

  • i donno, i really like this song

  • hells yeah, giddyup les

  • Les Claypool is a great musician, but that was horrible.

  • I agree man. I love Les, but seriously, he's just lost his hunger for it, you know? Or so it seems with songs like this. Maybe it was just a bad night... or bad choice in song.

  • CELLO SOLO

  • You probably listen to Metallica.

Why don't you go listen to them now and leave the genre-bending, mind-exanding, original, lyrically masterful, social-commentary, instrumentally superior music to us "muso-geeks".

And yes, that was a term coined by Claypool himself. I'm proud to say i am one of them.

  • I like all of Les' work be it in Primus, Sausage, C2B3, Oysterhead whatever and i like to think i am very open minded to weird, original, different things/music but i went and picked up on fungi and foe the day it was released and i was disappointed by it. I haven't listened to it enough yet but the songs just aren't that great. There isn't enough instrumentation in it. There isn't a wide number of sounds in it like purple onion or of whales and woe. It's all just missing something.

  • I totally hear ya... First time I've ever been disappointed with Les... What's missing? Gotta be shrooms... Shrooms would make it all sound pretty good I think...

  • The few songs i've heard I also found disappointing to be honest - sounds like experiment jamming without any real push

  • Whatever, it's your opinion man, I think that this album is extremely innovative and fresh and I can say that I've never heard anything like that before. If you like Sailing the Seas just stick to it, who cares.

  • its getting way better to me you probably are one of those people who like primus more

  • he is awesome in concert !!! high energy and matisyahu is an awesome rapper too! it was a kick ass show

  • seein him tonight. anybody know if that matisyahoo gives a fuck guy is the opening act or headliner?

  • dont know if he opens or what but he is a respectable musician and obviously Claypool sees something in his music otherwise he wouldnt share the stage with him

  • love his bass playing skills in primus but this new solo album thing kind of sucks but i still like les

  • saw the man last night on hilton head. fucking sick!!

  • IM SEEING HIM ON JUNE 11

  • what the hell was that?

  • well then your a faggot

  • Primus unplugged...so is his deal standup basses now?;

  • no he's always used one from time to time

  • i cant wait until i see les at ottawa blues fest playing all of fungi and foe

  • Looks like the Bluesfest show may have been bumped off the tour. He's scheduled to play in Buffalo the same day and I can't find him on the Bluesfest site anymore....

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuckkkk im not going to that shit anymore now

  • Dude, that literally ruined my day. I was so looking forward to seeing him!

  • Les is back on the bill, June 16th 9pm Hardrock Cafe stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK-YOU LES!!!

  • This song has a kinda Medeski, Martin, and Wood groove to it.

  • The side mic says "sandman". What could that mean?

  • sandman is a tribute to Mark Sandman, bassist for the band Morphine. Mark died of a heart attack while on-stage.

  • its in remembrance of mark sandman from morphine.

  • Those masks are freaking awesome

  • i think so too

  • I love Claypool.

  • That string player is INSANE

  • i think his name is sam bass

  • Yes indeed. He played with Les (and MIRV and... Paulo?) at Bonnaroo last year.

  • the bass line sounds a lot like a henry mancinni's song

  • Just purchased tickets to see him in Dallas on June 7th

  • you got to do some fry and stay up a few nights to get it

  • What's with the weird ass faces?lol
