  • i heared that song from my school and here it is!

"Yellow bird, up high in banana tree.

Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me.

Did your lady friend leave the nest again?

That is very sad, Makes me feel so bad.

You can fly away, In the sky away

    You're more lucky than me..."

  • @EliteIxHitman Hi there, this song is not calypso. It is a traditional haitian children son. It is a meringue song called ti'zwazso 'little bird'. Harry Belafonte made an english version called yellow bird. I remembered it from my childhood. Take care.

  • Hello

    Raymond...

While viewing another You Tuber's recent rendition,I happened across your interpretation in the related vids on the side bar...so I thought it only proper to have it a go and listen.

Raymond, your calypso version was most inspired and a fresh-sounding rendering of this beloved old chestnut of a ditty.

    Peace,

    Stewball

  • Yes, I saw that rendition too. It's nice to see that my very early videos still sometimes pop up in the related videos area.

  • Interesting spin on this classic. I have the original LP (Songs of The Caribbean) that the song appeared on, and I've fallen in love with the song.

  • It's a very catchy tune. Thanks for commenting.

  • Long live the brave people of Haiti pioneer of freedom and culture in the Americas¡

  • Everyone loves "Yellow Bird" not knowing the origins of this popular song made famous by Harry Belafonte after being translated. The original song is called "Choucoune" by Oswald Durand in 1883 in HAITI, Yes Haiti. This song is so old there way before the calypso craze of the 50's. Give us credit, jus as you have never done for us being the 1st New World settlement by Columbus who still has a fortress there, the 2nd republic in the Hemisphere after the only successful slave rebellion in history,

  • Thank you for your information. I have updated the information box and my website accordingly.

  • That revolution which resulted in the Louisiana Purchase doubling the size of the U.S.,Supplying arms and even men to aid in Bolivar's Revolutions in SouthAmerica, and even the battle against the British in American Independence 1779 "Seige of Savannah" in Georgia, or having the largest fortress ever built in this Hemisphere "La Citadelle LaFerriere" Give us credit for the song at least DAMN!!

  • Long live the brave people of Haiti pioneer of freedom and culture in the Americas¡
