  • @dalegm55 you can get those guns at just about any gun shop so definitely shop around for a good deal!

  • Ive got a similar gunsmith story. I got a pair of semi finished / rough cut stocks from my grandfather after he passed. I did the fitting and primary sanding. I asked him to put a piano style finish on it and then put a recoil pad on it. He said that he would work with me on cost and that was 4 YEARS ago. I have since filed a theft charge with the PD and they told me he has gone out of business. It wasn't too much and all I want now is to get my stock back. I feel your pain.

  • Here's some even better advice.. just avoid Gap, PA, as a whole haha. I drove through Lancaster and Gap the other day, just awful. Smelled like shit from the farms and swerving around Amish buggies really accelerates the wear on my Bimmer's brakes and tires.

  • i drove past the village arms a few time`s but never went in now i know not to, but there is a gun show like 10 mins away from me and the people there are realy great but im not sure if they have a gun smith.

  • Definitely know where you're coming from. Most gun shops are full of employees who are real pricks. it took me a while but i found one that treats me right and I'll gladly pay more for things to support their shop then go elsewhere. Hope you can get that rifle assembled, shouldn't be too hard. Good luck man.

  • Go down there, pick up the parts and leave. This reminds me of my 2 week old Toro mower that broke and it took 6 weeks for the authorized shop to replace the starter on it. The grass doesn't stop growing. It's rare to find good customer service anymore. 

  • @taofledermaus thats exactly what i did. eff leaving the parts indefinitely. i dunno whether id be more pissed about the mower breaking after only 2 weeks, or the fact that it took 6 weeks. thanks for the support man!

  • @chaos311clarity I ended up getting a Toro electric leave blower for all my trouble... lol. I did have to spend $300 to buy a small lawn mower so I could just mow my yards. Of course I didn't buy another Toro mower but a Craftsman. --- but you'd think in this day and age, and the economy, people would be bending over backwards to provide good customer care. Unfortunately it seems customer care ends the moment you pay for something.

  • On Feb 21 Pac-Nor told me I would have my barrel in 11 weeks. It just shipped yesterday. Do the math there. Their customer service was great everytime I called but when they're that far behind schedule it's hard to be happy about it.

  • @chaos311clarity No I'll be getting my replacement barrels for everything from Templar Consulting from now on. They've lost my business, which is a shame for them because I've got a lot of builds planned over the next few years.

  • Hey buddy that is total crap. Customer service should be #1 if you own a business. I deal with allot of folks in this business that believe that their customers don't have choices so they are cocky and condesending. I can't stand that crap. I personnally take customer service very seriously and make sure everything is perfect for each client. There are good companys still out there. Your build will take a day at most. Take your time and have fun with it.

  • I had cash in my pocket looking for a 1911. Decided to give a local shop my business. Walked around all the display cases waiting to get helped. Whole time a couple of employees just stood there BSing. Walked out and bought a 1911 at another shop that night. Signed onto Google and gave them a bad review.

  • I can't stand bad customer service. I just ordered a product off of Blackhawk!'S website on the 8th and my order is still "processing" and not even delivered yet. I love their products, but COME ON ALREADY! Slow delivery draws people away from businesses too. Hope that Beowulf gets into the right gun smith's hands next time man.

Sad that the small buisnesses are now doin the same thing as the multi-national, It was the first thing that make me go for the small shop was service, time is changing and the wrong way.
