  • One question: Was there any issue with putting the bolt holding the engine through where the swingarm mounts to the engine. Is there any thickness difference between the 400 and 650 on that mount?

  • @chillrasta12 Hi, yes the XR650R bolt is bigger so I just machined up a bush to suit

  • your gas was off. jus sayin. haha.

  • hey, how hard wasd it to put this motor in the 400ex frame? i need to know soon

  • @mraaronperson I'm a mechanical engineer so for me this conversion was very easy, the only thing i didn't do was weld up the alloy fuel tank.

  • @Madacko i dont have much experience, so do you thinnk i could do this with the help of one of my friends that a mechanic? also if it isnt too much trouble will you name me what all you had to do?

  • How do you like the YFZ shocks? Can't decide to put 450r or yfz450 shocks on mine. Did it lower the front end? If so, by how much?

  • @stevekx500 Hi mate, the YFZ shocks are heaps better than the stock 400EX shocks & if they altered the ride height it wasn't by much because I didn't notice. It might pay tho check the width of the 450R top mount as the YFZ ones require machining to fit into the 400EX frame.

  • i just finished putting an xr650r motor into my lt250r n its power is way diff than the 2 stroke its nice! ! no more mixing gas and buying 2cycle oil lol

  • @joedirtay123 Sounds sweet mate!

  • yea i looked into that and some people have done it and love it but some other people say it strains the motor too much with the extra weight but i may still try it and just put different sprockets on it. thanks for yoir help

  • @mrcr125er No worries mate, let me know how you get on. Mine's geared fairly tall, think it's 16-38 with the standard sized rear tyres, but 1st gear is still fairly low.

  • That's crazy man, but I would keep your eye on your spacers at the rear wheels, I don't know what they are made out of, but that will be a lot of stress on your bolts

  • that is some major work

  • naaa ill pass id rather have a clutch but its a nice quad

  • gay no one wants something without a clutch

  • @oSHOLLIVERo Hey don't knock the rekluse clutch till you've tried one, it's bloody awesome!

  • drive it more

  • drive it

  • hey how fast have u goten it up to

  • so you just let off the gas and shift it up?

  • @83PoWeRrAm Yes it's as simple as that

  • SEXY

  • thats bad ass. i got a 2001 440ex and it runs great never hap one problem with it but nic vid.

  • nice ride

  • i have a hard time tryin to spit rekluse too man why did they have to name there company that but god dam dude i want one of them auto clutchs sooo bad for my crf450r it would make it soo much more easy to ride in the trails

  • @Xxslayer410xX It might be hard to pronounce but it is definately worth it's weight in gold! No more stalls in the tight twisty stuff & if done right it'll start in gear & be on it's way as soon as the revs get above idle.

  • Nice mods..well done..Cool quad guy

  • where u got dat at

  • i wass just wondeing how you mounted that vapor speedometer

  • @keiljoseph. Hi, It's mounted on the handle bars using the supplied mounting kit, which is also the same as a TrailTech unit.

  • id ride it haha

  • dang and i thought my 3 400exs were bad ass but damn that thing is just a monster!

  • nice job on that man

  • man i have been wanting to do that to mine i have a 440

  • Sweet quad. I'm 13 and I ride a 2006 yfz 450

  • @Matt06yfz wow rich daddy? ive got myself a Ltr-450 im 14 and pai for it ALL myself!

  • it seems great, except for the clutch... dont see a 13 year old riding a 60 hp machine

  • The auto clutch makes it really easy to ride. My little brother doesn't jump it or flog it stupid like I do, but he loves it.

  • dude thats sick as good old honda lol

  • How does your hybrid "TRX650R" hold up to a TRX700XX or Yamaha Raptor 700R?

  • To be honest I don't know anyone with one of those to race so i'm not sure?

  • I'd really like to do a build like yours. I have an 08 Raptor, but they are so common place. I'd like to have something I fabricated and that's unique.

From what I can tell, an "uncorked" 650r with aftermarket exhaust is around 55hp, which is where a tuned Raptor would be. The 700XX would likely put out that power too, but it's a lot heavier.

A race would likely boil down to the power-to-weight ratios and rider skill.

  • did the yfz shocks just fit right in to front?

  • No I had to machine then in a milling machine to make them fit as they were too wide.

  • k damn thanks

  • IM PUTTING THIS MOTOR IN MY LT250r MAN DO THEY RIP ?? I MAINLY WANTED IT FOR RELIABILITY

  • It's an awesome engine! Very reliable & so much torque it'll pull in any gear from almost any speed.

  • how hard was it to convert it to a 650? just new mounting tabs? that thing is sweet

  • With some engineering skills it was easy but there were a few things that needed special attention, the kick starter won't fit, chain alighnment is wrong & the stock fuel tank sits too low & hits the motor which is why I've got a custom alluminium tank.

  • very sick man.

  • I was a little worried I had put my kicker together wrong, but it looks like it really does go that far back to start with.

  • They actually work really well! I machined them up out of high tensile steel about 7 years ago. They are threaded in one end & screw onto the stock studs with another stud on the opposite end for the wheel nuts. I jump it over a 60ft table top whenever I can & it cops a hiding. Some time ago I crashed it into a tyre wall @ 100km/h while racing, I bent a rim & the axle but didn't break the high tensile studs or the hubs.

  • I was only being conservative. I know they make 50hp stock, but I haven't had it dyno'd yet so I'm only guessing when I say 70 or 80hp? I know the torque is amazing tho! I've just fitted a new carby & will be getting it dyno'd very soon. I'll post the results.

  • idont mean to me mean or a jerk but 70 Hp? what does the motor have for Hp in the bike? im a big 250r guy and they get abou 80Hp out of a 389CC polanda motor... i would thought the 650 would be more then 70Ph....
