  • Hi you very nice to teach Thai

  • that really help mate, your english is fine

  • สวัสดีค่ะ - sawadee kha (girl) สวัสดีครับ - Sawadee krab (goy)

I'm not from thailand... I'm from sweden.. I have no thai at all in my blood, and I've never been in thailand... And I've never taking classses to learn thai...

But I can speak thai pretty good! I just look at the internet ^_^

  • how bout if say "hello in Thailand" with both (man and woman) in front ???

  • It is not who you are talking to,

    it is who is talking

    Therefore

    If you are a boy

You will ALWAYS say "krab" at the end of your words.

    So you'd say So-wad-dee-krab.

But if you're a girl, you will ALWAYS say

    So-wad-dee-kha.

  • Thank you for posting this. It'd be fun to learn thai!

  • Wow, you are so good, I really love this video, you are my hero <3

  • gain mak leuy!

  • if i ever learn to speak Thai fluently i'll go there. that's for the videos :]

  • thank you,

  • cool, thanks for the hint on Krup and Kah. I will be visiting Thailand soon and I definitely do not want to get those mixed up.

  • you speak good english, how did you learn?

  • To say hello properly you have to put more emphasis in the "R".

as in Sa Wat D KRAAAAAP....krrrrraaaap.

now say it quickly ....SWUT D KRUP!

    Voila!!...that's how u say it!

  • yay! thanks

  • I need to learn, I need to learn !

  • This is pretty cool lesson video, I'm Vietnamese. I've studied in Thailand since I was 5, so I'm pretty much Thai's native speaker now :P. I want to comment something for you. น่าพี่แม่งโคตรเกยเลยว่ะ

  • i wanna learn more Thai =) can teach mi=)

  • this guys a legend .. he can talk allright

  • Sawatdee Khrab!" That is how they say hello in Thai. If you are a girl you will say "Sawatdee Kaa"

  • you're so cute! kob khun krub!

just incase anyone watching was getting confused by all the comments about correct spelling, note that there is absolutely NO OFFICIAL TRANSLITERATION of the thai language into our writing system. Sawaddee krub can be spelt like that or even sawasdee klub or anythign similar. Thai sounds can't be compared at all to english words so there is no sound equivalent.

    love your lessons Mr Asia!

  • I've notices Sawadee has an extra Sor Sala in there after the Lor Chala, but Im not sure if its pronounced or not?

  • u look drunk

  • sawadeekaaa haha

  • I wanna go to Thailand next year! so thanks~_^

besides...you are soo cute. :) hehe

  • i am from east thailand, near the border to cambodia so i can speak a bit khmer but i forgot how to speak thai because ive moved to germany :( but i want to learn now :(

  • I also can speak thai . Thank U . our countries r very near . :)

  • You pronouce "klab" that is not correct. When you say "ครับ" you must to spell "krab" R as ร of Thai alphabet.

  • "You pronouce "klab" that is not correct. ..."(kroowachi)

Thais often pronounce it "klab". In fact, it's common in spoken Thai to replace "ร" (r) with "ล" (l), as occurs in this example.

  • heh i can speak pretty good thai cause i have a thai girlfriend and sewaadekab would be close to the pronoucation in english for males

  • pom me fan kun thai lau krup would be i have a thai g/f....but there is no real correct way of English translation....only tinglish!

  • thanks and lol sweet :D

  • you're cute

  • Because Thailand is a beautiful country with friendly people and rich culture: outstanding tourist attraction, nice beaches, unique architecture, delicious food and graceful manner of Thai people. Sex Industry, mostly shown in international media, was just a part of the whole. I admit that there are some sick people who go there just for that. In fact, prostitution is everywhere, not only in Thailand also numerous cities in Asian and European countries.

  • Thank you very much for your very instructive and entertaining videos teaching the Thai language. I like them very much and find them very helpful.

  • hi

    what does ไม่ว่างสอบ mean?

hello (if u r a man)= sa wat dii krap

    hello(if u r a woman)=sa wat dii khap

  • ไม่ว่าง = Not available or not free

    สอบ = test or exam

ไม่ว่างสอบ = Not available to have an examination

    ไม่ว่าง สอบ = I'm not free, I've an examination.

space between word could make a meaning different as well.

  • thanks!

    what does ไม่รู้จะพูดยังไง....................ทรมาน mean?

    :S it's similar i guess :S

  • ไม่รู้จะพูดยังไง....................ทรมาน

    I don't know what/how to say.....it's suffering

  • don't you say hello sawadee cop?

  • for a mail you say sa wa dee kub

and for a female you sayy sa wa dee ka

the ka and kub are real just for the use of curtisy

  • depends on what country you come from..

english notation would perhaps bee "sawad dee .."

(someone correct me, if I'm wrong with it..

  • sawàtdii khráp/khâ I think is a pretty standard way of writing it.

Most transliteration systems use the same tone markers... but the consonants and vowels get pretty muddled.

For example, in the system I know, "dee" would be equivalent to เคอ (which sounds a bit like the "der" in "cylinder")... whereas ดี would be "dii".

It's a shame there's no widely accepted system (like pīnyīn for Mandarin Chinese).

  • Your english is great!! Also you are a very good teacher.. I have a friend that is form Khon Kean. I have gone to visit him and will visit him again soon. Thanks for the lessons.

  • Thankyou for taking time to teach us for free.

I only speak english. (In Northern Ireland we are surrounded by english speaking countries)Now I am thinking of learning another language and as there is a small Thai community here, maybe I should learn Thai.

  • SO WADEEEEE CRAAAAAAP!

  • your english isnt bad at all! ^^

Thanks you for making the efford of learning us this:D

  • kap for male.ka for female...to be used at the end of every sentence for politeness.May be dropped later with friends and family

  • I'd rather be mistaken as a ladyboy than taking a couple more min trying to say the male version

  • I have just been chatting on MSN with a woman in Thailand and when we said goodbye she said "sawatde byecute" I think I can understand the last bit but not the first so I Googled it and found this. Does this mean goodbye? Oh and your English is fine, better than many English people in fact. English people are very bad at foreign languages so we should not complain. Thank you

  • "Sawatdee" can be used for hello or goodbye.

  • sawatdee=good day,morning ,hello ,evening,etc All greetings really

  • Sawaddee Krab is for males.

" " Kah is for females.

  • good job^^

  • sawatdee khrab!

  • LOL kool good job! :)

  • "Sawatdee Khrab!" If you are a girl you will say "Sawatdee Kaa". When you are on holiday in Thailand, you will find many young people who can speak English. Most places you go to you won't have a problem. However, we like it a lot when we meet a foreigner who has tried to learn some Thai phrases.

And remember, the man must not say sawatde kaa, because all the people they gonna thought you are... they be think that you are a lady boy, okay?

  • wow, il be in Thailand this August. Hope to learn the language.

  • thank you so much ^.^

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!

    swadee crab!

HAHAA it sounds like 'so what thee crap'' LOL

  • LOL...yeah, it does kinda sound like that huh :) lol. SO-WHAT-THEE-CRRAP!!!! No disrespect people...we just having fun at it. Much love to all Thai people. I aint Thai but I enjoy your culture everyday in Muay Thai training. Muhc love.

  • kun loi mak mak (i dont know how to write it)

    ^^

  • Your English is very good. I want to know how to speak more Thai!! My only suggestion would be to write how to pronounce the word/phrase... instead of spelling. I'm glad you spelled it though! I'm glad I know how to greet someone in Thai :D

  • Oh I see that you write it in the description... duuh :-) thanks! two thumbs up!

  • Cool. Thailand is great. So beautiful. And your culture is so incredible, so stunningly old...

Thai hello sounds friendly. And you explained it very well. However it is very difficult for those not used to tones to hear the tones in a tonal languages. Therefore some description of the tones to use in Thai hello would be very helpful.

P.S. I loved the teddy bear sitting behind you. What's his name? ;)))))
