@EMaster2006 i know! The children of today have been robbed of good cartoons instead they must see these one's that make no sense what so ever talk about dumbing down a generation
@VGRetro Back when everything wasn't, "Okay, so, let's throw in a mix of kids owning cool monsters, throwing cards at each other that call up monsters and make it just a giant pi**ing contest to see who is the world's ultimate super fighter from planet unnamed!" Also known as the time when real thought was put to a show's story line rather than how they can make it sell kids a bunch of stuff.
Despite the corniness, gotta wonder where the writers for this sort of cartoon went to.
@Ballira Well, I know that the guy who came up with the idea for this show was an illustrator for the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. I guess that gives some idea.
Unfortunately, after the cartoon was cancelled, the entire cast was slaughtered to make burgers for the animators during the end of series party. NEVER MIND.
Question: The reason why Cowboys were called Cowboys were because they drove cattle herds across the west, wouldn't it be really awkward if cows drove cows?
I mean I don't remember watching the show itself, but I know the the character designs, and the cheesey voices. Maybe I just saw the commercials a lot.
Wow. This was lodged sooooooo far back in my memory, and it's only thanks to Nostalgia Critic that I found it again. So um. Thanks, bro?
I remember this show, I'd watch it on Saturday mornings and the intro always stuck in my mind. Always loved Westerns, even as a kid and this show only enforced it. Seeing it again now, all grown up, I can't help but get emotional about this.
now this one I absolutely loved as a kid, I think everyone went through a cowboy phase in their lives, its appealing to those who grew up with the old school serials and movies with john Wayne and the like and the kids of the time it was made who were at the age where they liked a lot of what their parents did, that and the song was and still is catchy
this is fantastic my b/f and i were discussing cartoons of old and i vaguely remembered this show. But cartoon cows? I had to be making it up! BUT THEN! i remembered an arcade game in the pizza hut that had the "cowboys" on it and im so glad i found this!
@Sonfaro I'm not even a child of the 80's (b. 1994) and I agree with ya, I look at 80's & 90's shows and cartoons and I think "Effort, real effort", I look at a 2000's show and I think "How high were these people when they thought of this?". A lot of times I wish I was a child or teen of the 80's.
Yo I remember this show...just because of the theme song that's why I liked this song I don't really remember the show...well some parts I remember but ya it was the theme song that was the only good thing about the show
@Diavilos - 1) Okay, I don't ever remember seeing this in NYC growing up (I'm in my late 30s) and I can remember some REALLY obscure cartoons and kids programming.
2) Umm, I'm judging this pile of poo based on what I SAW. I saw the concept, the intro and a bit of the cartoon and in my opinion, it's a ridiculous, perfectly horrid redneck trainwreck.
There was actually a "Yeeehaaaw!" in that clip. Tell me, in what part of the NorthEast did this show see the light of day?
@morpheusxnyc I remember but then I'm a bit younger. To answer your question it was the years 1992 + 1993 on abc before disney bought them then 1998- 2002 on toon disney. It was done by the same guy who made the ninja turtles and if your recall such things weren't that far a stretch for kids back then.
@Diavilos - Ah... It was the early 90s, not the 80s. No wonder. I knew I didn't see this growing up. I was to busy with high school, then college and getting laid to watch much of Saturday morning cartoons then.
I was still dead asleep when ABC broadcast this thing, usually hung over from the night before. lol
Still, it seems like an absurd concept capitalizing on the TMNT craze of the late 80s and the public's acceptance of anthropomorphized animals crossed with some hillbilly shit. lol
@morpheusxnyc Never actually saw it fair enough. Didn't care for this fine to each their own but again it was a different time. I just didn't care for how you said it (mainly the constant swearing) I liked a few shows back then that I think are stupid now but I keep those thoughts to myself that's all I was trying to say LATER.
Looking back I can see just how dumb this really was. Not to say that anything today is any better. THough I think it was the theme song that got us to watch. A good theme will sit us down long enough for us to hope the show is half as good. It almost never is.
i remember this riding on the tail of ninja turtles, completely missing the point of what made ninja turtles good. i made fun of the kids who liked this crap.
As nostalgic as it was for both of us, you can't deny nearly every episode was designed to introduce and sell a potential toy. Same goes for Transformers.
I would make fun of people who accuse others of missing the point while completely missing the point themselves, but then I'd just be an asshole.

There’s a lot of cartoon logic I can let slide i.e. Mickey MOUSE owning a pet DOG, or Winnie the pooh wearing a shirt and never any pants but I gotta draw the line at COWS riding HORSES the madness has to stop somewhere!!!!

@DragonMasterMack They're not on mars, they're on earth. The comet created a huge area set apart from the rest of the earth in the 1800s, they based their society on the old west but often got things wrong thanks to incomplete information, thus their guns are weird, and they have airships and other things. It included elements of steam punk and weird west settings.

Awesome Billy Dean intro. Saw him in concert with Alan Jackson in 91. Don't laugh I was 8. This was right before country went down the shitter. Also this cartoon ruled!
In the days of 'BC' [before cable] there were good cartoons- Bugs Bunny, Jonny Quest, Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Tom and Jerry.
What do we have now? Garbage from Japan or crappy ass PC shows.
Bugs Bunny, JQ, et al were violent, yes, but violence was and is a part of society. The only decent cartoons CN ever had were Ed, Edd, and Eddy and Cow and Chicken.
what are you talking about this ain't PC none of the shows in the 80's and early 90's were. Stuff we have now is full of PC bullshit and no violence whatsoever thanks to paranoid parents. And they're drawn like shit. I grew up during that time. Nobody ever worried about other people getting offended, people just watched TV and enjoyed it.
This show was tha SHIT..I remember they used to have those Saturday morning preview shows on ABC on TGIF every fall and this was one show I couldnt wait for. They stopped em bout 3 years after this and it was just tha Sylvester and Tweety show and a few Disney shows then I got back to FOX saturday mornings when they started having good shows again and alas that failed too.I couldnt tell ya what was on Saturday mornings now looks like crap wheneva I try to catch it
Nobody cares anymore about Saturday Morning Cartoons anymore. Sad to see that American Tradition fading away. Those have existed since the dawn of television. My dad in the 50 and 60's watched them back when he was small.
i agree dude remember back in the 80's when they would those 30 min preview specials of cartoons that was gonna be out in the fall? that was like our superbowl lol. ur right cartoon have gotten way too pc nowadays .now on abc u got disney running live action stuff the cw dies 4 kids which everything is all watered down pretty much .
@Luigi84289 agreed, saturday cartoons, i use to wake up at 5am tto start the watching them, and then by 10 am it was time to go play sports. Gone are the good days!!!
@Luigi84289 agreed, saturday cartoons, i use to wake up at 5am tto start twatching them, and then by 10 am it was time to go play sports. Gone are the good days!!!
You don't realize how corny some of the cartoons are when you're a kid...But that in no way takes away from their sheer awesomeness. On the mesa...lol. Classic
This cartoon came from the age of what I call GOLDEN SATURDAYS. Since today's saturday cartoons are a bore I just watch anime online. Disney sucks now.

Garbage from Japan and Crappy as PC shows?
So it's safe to assume you're an artard?
Kantikom 2 years ago
what are you talking about this ain't PC none of the shows in the 80's and early 90's were. Stuff we have now is full of PC bullshit and no violence whatsoever thanks to paranoid parents. And they're drawn like shit. I grew up during that time. Nobody ever worried about other people getting offended, people just watched TV and enjoyed it.

I was more fond of the arcade game of Moo Mesa than the show. Not that the show was that bad or anything.

I was curious myself to see what was left of Saturday morning cartoons, so I set aside one weekend to see. I was disappointed to see the following:
Fox: two hours of Archie's Weird Mysteries, then infomercials.
ABC: News.
NBC: News and then an hour of live-action educational animal programs with kids.
CBS: News and then an hour of some kind of pony cartoon.
The WB (or CW now) is the only one with a real block, though it is 4Kids. All reruns except Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.
Nothing like the past...

Nobody cares anymore about Saturday Morning Cartoons anymore. Sad to see that American Tradition fading away. Those have existed since the dawn of television. My dad in the 50 and 60's watched them back when he was small.

You don't realize how corny some of the cartoons are when you're a kid...But that in no way takes away from their sheer awesomeness. On the mesa...lol. Classic

so thats what happened to Moo Mesa, they got it better than Black Mesa

This cartoon came from the age of what I call GOLDEN SATURDAYS. Since today's saturday cartoons are a bore I just watch anime online. Disney sucks now.
