The danger of subtle legalism in a so-called grace message is that the message is deadly as it ministers condemnation to the hearers, when they think they fall short of expectations. The question is "whose expectations"? Pastors who seek to control the congregation often use God's name or the Bible to convey their expectations, when God Himself places no demands on people. The institutional church sadly is about controlling people with guilt and fear, using Bible verses to subtly condemn people.
As long as there is an obligation and expectation to live an "extraordinary" life, it is still living under the law. This message about grace as empowerment is actually a subtle camouflage of preaching legalism because the law is about doing in order to become (accepted by God). Grace is all about being who we already are. There is absolutely nothing whatsoever for us to do anything, but to be who we are - righteous, beloved, blameless, precious and holy children of God. The kingdom is in us.
You are right but you don`t have to understand the meaning of grace to the T to walk in it, but from the time you accept Jesus as your lord and savior grace starts to work in you life because of your new relationship with Christ, BUT DON`T GET ME WRONG THROUGH GRACE I AM UNDERSTANDING MORE ABOUT GRACE AND THAT`S EXACTLY WHAT`S HAPPENING NOW BY WATCHING YOUR VIDEO ON GRACE,thanks John and be bless in his GRACE!
@ele12957 ya your right. But I guess more of what I was meaning was those people who live like the world on purpose and yet still call themselves christians, look and act like the world for example living in fornication etc. But sometimes is it because the full gospel isn't being preached across their pulpit which is sad.
@lauratdrummer It really doesnt matter whats being preached in the pulpit when it comes to how you live your life because God is going to hold you accountable for your actions, not your pastor for preaching wrong. Thats why its important to read the Word on your own and hear God so when you are in a situation where someone is wrong about whats being preached, God tells you and you can fix the issue. God bless...Eph 6:19-20
@ele12957returns holiness is a by product of what JB is saying. He is not saying it's the way to get to heaven. But proof that you are a christian is in your fruit, so if we look, act, talk, and love more of the things of the world then it's a smart idea to check who it is we are serving because it most likely will not honestly be God.
@ele12957returns With the mistakes you cite John as having made in the past based on your knowledge of Truth (objectively determined by you of course...right?), do you find him condemned to spend eternity apart from God? Has John misled you on a 'point of salvation'?
@DanoPano01 John is not a goat and is no an unwise virgin, and he is not a man that did not invest his talents. I don't find fault in John but I am sure he has some, lol as we all have
@ele12957returns he does not discount holiness to get into heaven, he has just softened his message, The goats will still go to hell and the five foolish virgins will still go to hell. He would publicly recall "Driven by Eternity" if he did not agree with its message any more.
I would love to see Joseph Prince and John Bevere sit and talk about grace and holiness with each other.

Grace is indeed the God-given desire and power to do God's will. It can be resisted however. God gives grace to the humble but He resists the proud.
