I see the RS is reving up to almost 8k rpm, but on a stock evo in the U.S. you don't make any power after 6500 rpm. I wonder if it's a tuned car or they are just different in Japan. Does anyone know?

Its not drag racing that really kills a trans its auto x and time attack. A stage one rebuild from sheps tre or whatever can withstand a good 800whp no problem for drag racing. But will not hold up well on time attacks. 6 speeds are faster in drag with the same power but they just dont hold up to alot of power

Dude i own a 400whp evo tuned by grd performance. I know at least 4 or 5 evo guys that ive helped work on their evos all 5 speeds for reliability all built by sheps. I have a stage one rebuild and a stage 3 tcase in my car with an exedy twin disk ceramic clutch. Talk to john shepard about it i did 6 speeds suck for evos but are great in subies. Also the subie comment is coming from a bunch of people and p and l motorsports and grd which are both very good at subies. So dont BS

Thank you. I was lucky to get the 5 so I'm set but I have a friend who has an mr and blew his 6 and now got it replaced by a 5. Not only is the 6 speed glass but in the 1/4 you'll need one more shift. How do you like that clutch, I just blew the exedy stage one and am planning to get that one

Your a complete idiot. Why dont YOU get 'a fucking clue moron'. For EVOS, unless your domestic crap, the 6speeds ARE indeed worse than the 5 speeds. this is because they crammed the gears into the same space and they overheat easily. the STI 6speeds on the other hand are bulletproof.
