My first concert was Ten Years After (with J. Geils Band when they were good) 1972 at the Hollywood Palladium. I saw Traffic,Robin Trower, Edgar and Johnny Winter, Yes and so many others.VH1 had some lame ass Hard rock countdown and didn't include the Beatles Revolution or Helter Skelter! I met Ozzy in 2005. I had all Sabbath albums as they were released. My first Led Zep 45 was The Immigrant Song.I read Creem,Circus and Rolling Stone mags religiously. It was a great time to be a teen.
You're right about Black Sabbath changing the rules. It's just a shame that all the late 60s/early 70s bands are given seperate tags nowadays.
It was different back then, all these great bands - Ten years after, Family, Free, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Groundhogs etc were all lumped under the same banner - Rock music.
I feel this was the best line up of TYA.....When I saw them in 1969 they blew my socks off....Nobody can take Alvins place...BTW...I was 5' away from them..lol
The Tea Party Ruled!! I used to ride a bicycle in from Concord to the Tea Party to see Alvin. WBCN and Stop,Look & LIsten record store in Concord - '71 baaaad guitar my friends! d:)
Thanks for posting this gem! Saw TYA live in Baltimore in 75, with Peter Frampton as the opening act. Would be nice to se Alvin and Peter on the same stage!
I saw TYA in 1969 at a place called The Boston Tea Party...no seating...was one of the best concerts I ever saw....Alvin Lee "the fastest guitar player in the world"...that is true ...also one of the best!
What a treat! Boston Tea Party was an awesome venue. All the greats played there in the 60's. Traffic, The Dead, Joplin, The WHO, Vanilla Fudge, Jethro Tull, Janis, Steve Miller Band,Kinks, J.Geils, Fleetwood Mac, Yardbirds, Canned Heat and Howlin Wolf. Many of them played there numerous times. The 60's and 70's were awesome!
yea RIGHT -ON brother -met these guys Leo and Ric ,at a Sam Ash Music L.I. ,N.Y. BEFORE A GIG ,AT THE FILLMORE:all I can say is most bands today suck pretty, BAD SCENE...they-T.Y.A. combined it all....
I remember a nice summer afternoon in 1970: me & two of my best friends went into the woods outside my hometown (Zurich, Switzerland). We were listening to T.Y.A.'s "Ssssh" over and over again from a cassette recorder, when I dropped my first LSD-trip. What an experience!
@LegZoff TYA plays straight ahead ball you music also heavy blooz rock ,jazz and jazz rock [alvin started on clarinet so they play woodchoppers ball by woody herman ].
Alvin is so damn sexy. I can't stop watching this. Thanks for uploading.
