@DeathbyPianos, you have to look at the Navy and Marines as a real time global expeditionary force, able to respond after being on station for months prior to need. They can conduct sustained operations, but not to the magnitude of the Army and Air Force which have longer endurance but slower response time. Amphibious warfare task forces with Marine Expeditionary Units (MEUs) as the nucleus are the most common and basic on station response force, backed by Navy air and support units.

@WhitmanFl navy is also in the business of aviation. providing air support from sea to land to be exact. in fact every branch have aircraft in some capacity.

@alexelzy01 Our Navy and yours have distinct differences. We have one of the biggest, if not the biggest fleets in the world, and our sailors are honored in the decisions that they made to get to where they are, and to become the people they have become through service to our country... @dominiking69 oh awesome alright thank you for telling me i just found a one on one chat thing on the website thank you. and nice. alright i will thanks for your information
Anyone who doubts the importance of the Navy can kindly drink a warm glass of shut the hell up. This video is only a fraction of what ACTUALLY goes on in the Navy. Do some research you uneducated neanderthals.
now the Navy-facts! ...july 1988> USS Vincennes shot down an iranian airbus (290 killed) ...febr. 2001> USS Greenville collided with a japanese ship while civilians were allowed to use the submarine-control-systems (9 k.) ...apr. 2001> an EP-3E collided with a chinese fighter (pilot killed) ...first lesson= don't kill innocents!
I haven't heard of those incidents, with the exception of the USS Greeneville collision. I'll be sure to read up on them. As far as the Greeneville collision, the collision was because the submarine had to make an emergency surfacing due to ballast tank issues. The civilians on-board were not even near the controls when the ballast tank issue was noticed; therefore, they were not controlling it at the time of the collision. The collision was purely coincidental.
google the incidents ..or enter on youtube= incident at hainan: a walk in the park ..U.S. cruiser downs iranian airliner ..well, your "emergency-surfacing" was a demonstration-maneuver for the VIPs onboard, and your "coincidental collision" was the result of Capt. Waddle's negligence>> 9 japanese killed! RIP
No, there was really a ballast tank problem. If they had not surfaced, they could risk sinking (I'm not sure if the term "sinking" is correct, as they would have been already under water). Submarines are dangerous as it is, considering the circumstances, 9 people is much better than the hundreds that could have died if the submarine ceased to surface. The captain's decisions were just, not negligent at all.
Think objectively, not subjectively. You weren't there.
okay! you fly to Hawaii & you explain COMSUBPAC the NTSB-investigation was wrong, the USNavy-Court of Inquiry was wrong and the 31 witnesses were wrong! good luck ...but you're right in 1 point>> i wasn't there as they pronounced Capt. Waddle guilty of dereliction of duty & improper hazarding of a vessel! :-)
@1bottlejackdaniels well if you can do better go ahead and enlist in the united states navy and prove it. apparently your more qualified to do our job than we are.

@1bottlejackdaniels

RIP

@1bottlejackdaniels
