me too, i don't understand what's wrong with the album and the movie. i super love the movie! i didn't see anything bad or wrong with the plot, casting and the story itself. glitter was such a very remarkable and outstanding film. for the songs, they're great! that's why i don't get all the buzz and commotion with regards to the movie and album's performance.

This is a great album. She tried something different on it and I loved it. I think the album did so poorly just b/c the movie bombed. I also remember people bashing and laughing at "Loverboy" mainly b/c of the slutty video but not for the song itself. That also damaged the albums credibility. I was shocked to buy this and find out it was actually a fantastic album b/c of all the bad press I had been hearing.

also, as mariah said in an interview, and i say she was right, the album was released during the 11th september attacks and the media needed something to distract from the catastrophe so they poked at mariah because her single "Loverboy" stalled at #2 on the Hot 100

it was just a way to think of something else and they found exactly mariah to turn into their target

a pitty because the album is exceptional ;D

Such an underrated album. If Tommy Mattola wasn't so immature, J.Lo didn't lack creativity, and Mariah hadn't been overworked this album could've done much better. Still a classic...I actually think if it was really released in the 80s it would have done really well, haha.

This album was fantastic but her ex-husband was going against her at the time and using J-lo to help him. But I liked the movie and the soundtrack. Mariah did an excellent job but she didn't get the full props she deserved because everyone was focused on 9-11.

@Honeybflile, Mariah's ex husband had Mariah's soundtrack to the Glitter soundtrack because Mariah was still signed to Sony so he had all of her work in his possession eventhough they were not together. Mariah was supposed to use the sample from the Mary Jane Girls song, "All Night Long" But to hurt Mariah, he wanted J-Lo to take the sample and she did the remix to "I'm real" with Ja Rule so Mariah had to make a lot of last minute changes.

Also, Mattola took some of Mariah's material and ideas and gave them to J-Lo.
