It would really be awesome if every nation would just stop with any hostility toward anybody, and all together with combine forces develop 1 bad ass space program, and start to explore space.
Endeavour is my most favorite space shuttle. It's a shame to see it never be able to fly again. I look forward to the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.
In 1959 was invented the microship,in only 10years1969 spaceship invented and sent to the moon the apple advance computer made in 1980.Then what computer was invented in 1969 to send the space ship to the moon? It all was invented thousands of years ago like the computers in the Atlantic City which had cold and hot water yet we now in existance was not there but appear again new.We are material living in a material world that always exist yet other gain thru old knowledge get the credit for .
I just would like to say after reading many comments that the space program is going no where. All the people crying about the evil government taking the shuttle away should stfu and grow a brain. The Shuttle was a piece of shit that got us no where. NASA is looking into an updated "Saturn V" design that will take us to Mars and back. Is everyone happy now? All that took was a quick google search. Glad the shuttle era is over good riddance! Lets take the next giant leap for mankind now.
I am really sad to see the end of the shuttles, but I think we need to keep it in perspective. The shuttles were great when satellites needed constant repair and upgrade, and they needed space on board to do experiments. Now, it's cheaper to just launch a new satellite and with have the ISS, which is far, far bigger than the shuttle and can stay in orbit for decades, providing a permanent platform. There is no point pouring endless cash into something that does a poorer job than the ISS.
@lexichronicle2 The shuttle was vital in building the ISS. It's a shame when you compare military funding with space funding as military funding is so much higher. You don't hear as many people complaining about that. If NASA got just a fraction of that money it could develop the new SLS and keep the shuttle in service.
amazing piece of machinery right there, i hope our american friends will make a replacement soon :(, we really need to start setting up a base on the moon and beyond hopefully in my lifetime , rather cut 50 billion from the military and hand it over to NASA would be awesome
WAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.......... Next to last shuttle flight? did they stop sending shuttles up? D:
@4groundskeeperwillie The ending of the shuttle program had little to do with congress. Since the shuttles were coming close to there service life and the Columbia accident Nasa had no choice but to retire the shuttles. plus it costs 1.7 billion to launch a shuttle.Do you understand that the gov is about to default on loans? What do you do when your about to run out of money? you cut the fat and 1.7 billion dollars is alot of fat to cut so do your homework before you start blaming the gov.
It isn't like NASA is closing down. They figured they unmanned aircraft are the way now. Until we can figure another type of space craft to carry people to other planets and beyond.
@OlderG0ds You're right. I'm pretty sure that they're still going ahead with the Orion CEV. They just cancelled the Ares Rocket it was going to be carried on. The Orion CEV, I believe, will still be carried on another rocket type into space.
the end of the shuttle program isnt sad. all the money were wasting on these shuttle launches is pointless now. we know the universe is too big to get anywhere in a shuttle and with the shuttle program active, NASA has no mission. Now they can fund projects that give NASA a purpose once again.
If we didn't change then we would've never had the shuttle. We're doing the right thing. I get that the Shuttle was an Iconic American achievement. Its time to do bigger things!!!! It does suck about the jobs though.. But we gotta move on.
hey Everyone. You do realize that it was Pres. Bush that decided to end the shuttle program in 2004, right? just some food for thought. While I agree its sad we're losing the shuttle program. We do need to spend our money to get a new vehicle and do new things.!!!!
The series 'V' is a fictional TV show that explains (revelation of method) what is really going on with the evil UFO creatures (real spirit Lucifer & spirit demon gods) on this earth. @MrZazzles94 I think the Russians want to get to mars first, forget the moon, we need to go to mars! sounds crazy but it sounded crazy going to to the moon too! NASA GOES TO MARS!!!!
@championonwheels Or 10 people like me that drove 1,100 miles to Florida, got up at 3:30am to catch a tour bus, and made it all the way to the NASA Causeway only to find out the launch is scrubbed.
@championonwheels look im american but i dont think that ur comment is good. this is prejudice. the bad peoples are the terrorists. not the population of afeganistain. be careful wiht ur comment cause our country is in a big crisis. we unfortunatelly are paying for all of we did. bye :)
@theLAngeles1 "the bad peoples are the terrorists. not the population of afeganistain."
Glad to see some others pointing that out. It's sad that it's degraded to this on a NASA video and that it's gotten so many thumbs up. People interested in this video should be more intelligent than to stoop to that.
Humans are smart enough to travel to space, but not smart enough to control their own numbers and avoid wiping out the global food supply in 39 years.
This flight you just watched was the final launch of the 30 year OLD shuttle program. NOT the end of space exploration. NASA is merely shutting down the old program so they can start their new one. The old program was a waste of resources for NASA, and it's jobs given to smaller space agencies (jobs like resupplying space stations). This frees up NASA to focus on the manned exploration of mars, and meteorite research. This is a new era in space exploration!
@TheFlowersparks21 Why? The new programs will increase the need for more scientists and 'astronauts' in the agency; making this the best time in history to (quite literally) aim for the stars.
The people who actually run the USA, Council on Foreign Relations, prefers to spend American tax on bombing innocent country and stealing their oil than space exploration.
@4GroundsKeeperWillie I agree but the space shuttle is 30 years old, we've had 2 disasters of it, it needs to go as much as we don't want it. It's aging and it's time to say farewell to the space shuttle.
@TheGlock80 actualy that realy is the reason, Obama said himself that he doesnt know how America will be able to pay back all the money they owe so no they definitely can not afford billion dollar space programs
@TheGlock80 Who said they are stopping? They are simply ending their old program so that they can concentrate on important projects such as meteor research and interplanetary flights.
it makes me proud to be a human being when i see beautiful machines like this BUT!!! the shuttle technology is over 40 years old an thats kind a sad we need a new space race wit new technology
i lived in fort pierce for 7 years back when i was little, we used to go to the beach all the time and watch the shuttles launch over the ocean, it was inspired me to study cosmology and astronomy, i used to always want to go into space someday, now that the shuttles are being retired it really is sad. here's to the crews that have piloted these shuttles since their beginning.
I've lived in Melbourne, FL for 18 years and I've always been able to watch shuttle launches from out of my bedroom window. It makes me sad that the shuttle program is ending and that when I get older and perhaps have kids, they'll never get to see one of these in real life. Hopefully at some point in the near future we'll return to space, the Moon and eventually visit Mars. That would really be something.
why can't nasa ever show the shuttle going into space or coming back to orbit. Why can't we see the whole mission from beginning to end from out the front window where the pilots sit. why can't we go back to deep orbit. If the Saturn 5 did it a bunch then why not bring it back out and go again. Why do they sneak these shuttles back in the middle of the night without letting anyone know until its back. Somethings fishy. I can't believe people actually believe this garbage!!!!!
This program should have been cancelled a long time ago, each flight costs over a billion dollars and the shuttle can only stay in space for a few weeks because it runs on batteries.
@bombarderoazul oh and you would prefer that the USA spends 663 BILLION on defence? surely we should be exploring space as humankind, rather than wiping eachother off the face of the earth?
@dubz06jnr I agree with you too on that, the defense budget is way too high, but really my point about the space shuttle is that, this program did nothing to advance our exploration of space in any way. We can't go to mars with it, it's old technology designed for low earth orbit. What we need are programs that will take us to mars or to an asteroid, we have been stuck in low earth orbit for too long. But the way it looks now, the chinese will beat us to it.
@bombarderoazul im relieved that you agree with me about the defence spenditure. i also see your point about endeavour. NASA budget needs to be seriously reconsidered. i dont know how they are getting away with it, its a crime against humanity!!
@PanjshirGuerrilla When did nasa say something would happen in 2012? Were they talking about the end of their space fleet? If so, the world won't end, it'll just be the end of nasa's space fleet. Use your brains, people. What makes you think scientists will believe in an ancient incan prophecy? Even nostradamus, one of the worlds most "respected" and notorious "prophets" couldn't predict the end of the world back in 2001. Then again, maybe we just got the date wrong.
@PanjshirGuerrilla There MAY be a large solar storm due to happen sometime next year, but solar storms happen all the time.So what?
Sometimes, it may affect the electrical grid or even sattelite communications, but other than that, it's of little significance. Obviously it would be a good opportunity to study solar storms and guage their effects on earth, but other than that, we have nothing to worry about.
@PanjshirGuerrilla As for ancient knowledge of astronomy, some ancient civilizations may have known a certain amount about the stars, and were good mathematicians, which allowed them to build monuments in certain ways, but I seriously doubt they knew what we currently know about space, such as the various elements produced in space, temps these elements are produced at, the speed at which light travels from one place to another, etc.
@swat305GINO I agree with you. I'm not wanting to bible bash or nothing, but the bible states that no human will know when the end will come, and even Jesus Christ Himself, who Christians believe to be the very son of God, and also believe to be God, didn't know when the end would come. Jesus said that knowledge is only held by God Himself.
Who would dislike this? It's basically science. UFOs are just government secret weapons that are disguised as UFOs. From area 51! How does UFOs have to do anything with this?
I can't believe that this is, how this wonderful era ends. The space program brought us so many inventions and improved our lives so much, everything from your mattress and its Memory Foam, to your car, to your internet, to aviation.
There is something that fly's past the Rocket Engine at take off at Incredible speed. At the top there are UFO's that are phasing in & out at the beginning of the launch. This isn't Fake!!
anybody know why they're done with the STS missions? i mean we finally know how to safely fly the shuttles and we havent had a failure since columbia. i dont get it (not to make me seem stupid or anything)
@CaptainCruise1 New shuttles are being developed to replace the last generation of space shuttles. More sustainable vehicles, I believe, with a lot more power.
Not Bad

This program should have been cancelled a long time ago, each flight costs over a billion dollars and the shuttle can only stay in space for a few weeks because it runs on batteries.
bombarderoazul 9 months ago
@bombarderoazul oh and you would prefer that the USA spends 663 BILLION on defence? surely we should be exploring space as humankind, rather than wiping eachother off the face of the earth?
dubz06jnr 8 months ago
@dubz06jnr I agree with you too on that, the defense budget is way too high, but really my point about the space shuttle is that, this program did nothing to advance our exploration of space in any way. We can't go to mars with it, it's old technology designed for low earth orbit. What we need are programs that will take us to mars or to an asteroid, we have been stuck in low earth orbit for too long. But the way it looks now, the chinese will beat us to it.
bombarderoazul 8 months ago
@bombarderoazul im relieved that you agree with me about the defence spenditure. i also see your point about endeavour. NASA budget needs to be seriously reconsidered. i dont know how they are getting away with it, its a crime against humanity!!

i think people shouldnt take your word over nasa's
from 2012 the world is gonna change in many ways
u wanna bury you head in sand to the multiple warnings and predictions from goverments militairys
and scientists around the globe fair enough

@PanjshirGuerrilla stfu?
swat305GINO 9 months ago
@PanjshirGuerrilla When did nasa say something would happen in 2012? Were they talking about the end of their space fleet? If so, the world won't end, it'll just be the end of nasa's space fleet. Use your brains, people. What makes you think scientists will believe in an ancient incan prophecy? Even nostradamus, one of the worlds most "respected" and notorious "prophets" couldn't predict the end of the world back in 2001. Then again, maybe we just got the date wrong.

@25151206
the link to nasa
://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2010/04jun_swef/
or if you wish just type it into google u can find it there "nasa warns solar storm"
should scientist belive ancient incans (mayan) prophecy theories? ...no
but shuld they belive in recorded astronomical facts taken from thir ancient societys 3000 years ago
who knew more about the stars than we have only just discoverd in the last 300
PanjshirGuerrilla 8 months ago
@PanjshirGuerrilla There MAY be a large solar storm due to happen sometime next year, but solar storms happen all the time.So what?
Sometimes, it may affect the electrical grid or even sattelite communications, but other than that, it's of little significance. Obviously it would be a good opportunity to study solar storms and guage their effects on earth, but other than that, we have nothing to worry about.
25151206 8 months ago
@PanjshirGuerrilla As for ancient knowledge of astronomy, some ancient civilizations may have known a certain amount about the stars, and were good mathematicians, which allowed them to build monuments in certain ways, but I seriously doubt they knew what we currently know about space, such as the various elements produced in space, temps these elements are produced at, the speed at which light travels from one place to another, etc.
25151206 8 months ago

This is a sad moment for all of us...

There is something that fly's past the Rocket Engine at take off at Incredible speed. At the top there are UFO's that are phasing in & out at the beginning of the launch. This isn't Fake!!
