Daniel, where did you acquire your doctorate in theology? There is much negativity coming from your mouth, that detracts from ANY goal of visits to your site or book sales. 4 years of effort? What a waste of energy.
If book sales are the measure of success it was a waste of energy, however, I take comfort in that my Savior was also rejected and despised by the religious of His day just as were the prophets before Him.
Christians will sin. There are some sins that lead to death and others that do not. We should be encouraging one another as we see the day approaching. I do not encourage sin, far from it. However, if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. I started watching this clip and thought, 'Oh, another preacher trying to point out the faults of someone who seems to be a genuine believer (swindoll) and relatively sound teacher of the gospel' Swindoll seems fine to me
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 1 John 3:6-7
You say that "Christians will sin" and then quote "whosoever abideth in him sinneth not." It is one or the other. You can't go two directions at once. Every human being is headed in one way or the other. When you sin against God, you are headed toward hell until you repent. The big problem with most modern day preachers is that they don't preach repentence. They mislead by saying that all you have to do to be saved is "accept Christ or receive Christ." without repenting.
Dont quote PART of a scripture.. the second half of rom 6:23 says the Free gift of God is grace..
What you are looking at are two different things.. Salvation and Sanctification.
Salvation is strictly by FAITH..
We cannot be Sinless.. but we can Sin less..
Sanctification is a slow process by where we lean not on our selves but on God in the form of the Holy spirit to work towards conforming to the Image of Christ.
John 6:47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. - I think it comes down to two question. Who must I believe? And what must I believe Him for? Answer: JESUS for EVERLASTING LIFE.
Jesus would'nt have called it EVERLASTING LIFE if it could be lost.
SALVATION comes freely by FAITH in Jesus...DESCIPLESHIP will cost you by OBEDIENCE to Jesus. Two different things. Read the Bible please.
I agree totally very very well said. You have said things my soul burns to say. Concerning these men and their teachings and their popularity and the whole mess
While I appreciate your motives, you are clearly twisting the intention of Dr. Swindoll's message. Every 'saved' Christian continues to sin... we are hopelessly depraved. Dr. Swindoll has simply illustrated that 'saved' or not, there are Earthly consequences for choosing sin. David chose sin. He is reaffirming that you cannot lose your salvation. There is only one unforgiveable sin and we all know what that is. I hope you will rethink these heretical teachings you have put forth.
Far from rethinking these heretical teachings of mine I am more commited to them than ever.
Rather than promise every Christian that they must continue in sin, I will promise them that Christ is able to keep them from falling, and to present them faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.
Living free from all sin is the purpose of the gospel, the cross and grace. Not only can you live without sin, if you don't you are refusing the salvation Jesus offers.
Christ came to save you from your sin...not in it as modern "Christian" teachers teach.
"And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him" (1 John 3:3,7).
Perhaps you should read both the Bible and Chuck's book in their full context before misleading believers into being as bitter as you are. Just a thought.
i totally agree with you that Christ is the one that keeps us from sin...let me ask you something though... do you still sin today in your life at all? remember 1 john 1 :7,8,9,10.
the wages of sin is death is for non believers, how can you possibly answer 1 john 5:17 "all unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not unto death"....if we confess our sin he is just to forgive us our sin. that means we are continous sinners unto death..if we say we have no sin we are liars and the truth is not in us. the sin unto death is not relying on Christ for our salvation, which now becomes works..not faith. as christians , we will always sin in our human bodies (which stinks) GRACE!!
so your saying your salvation is based on you not sinning anymore...WRONG>>.that is why we must repent when we sin , again in 1st John. Jesus saved us yet while we were still sinners, he died for us past, present , future. i am resting in what Christ has already done for me as the Bible stated, i cant do anything more for my salvation, if i did , would it not be works? my good deeds come from me being a Christian, not to earn my salvation.
Amen. I love Chuck Swindoll and he is a great speaker however, Chuck is a false teacher when it comes to what you must do to be saved. Faith without works is dead. Mark 16:16 Jesus is quoted "he who believes and is baptized shall be saved" Gods word is wonderful. God has told us what to do. When Paul was blinded Jesus told him where to go and he would be told what he MUST do. It is quite simple. Amazing, Hear the word, believe, repent , remain faithful. Satan can appear as an angle of light.

Mr, I just want to say this: YOU are the one confusing the people, YOU are the instrument of the enemy, a simple quote from a book does not mean or represent ALL the years of bible teachings of Chuck, i pray to Jesus Christ to give you what you deserve.
It doesn't really sound like you and Swindoll have a difference in doctrine. It sounds like Swindoll is talking about how as Christians we can grieve Gods' spirit through sin, and some of the consequences thereof. There's a difference in sinning which we all do, and living a lifestyle of sin. I agree often times ministers can water down the gospel. i just don't think that's the case in this situation.
the wages of sin is death and that is why christ died for us so that we could be forgiven. but even with forgiveness, we still must live with the earthly consequences that come with our sins. i am not trying to make sins consequences look less damaging than death, and i dont beleive that it was chuck swindolls intention either.
The wages of sin is death. Period! Everyone who sinned has the death sentence hanging over his head, and has lost his right to help himself into Heaven. But however, God justifies (makes right) the believing sinner through Christ and imputes (ascribes, assigns, gives) Christs righteousness to him. Thus, it is not the sinners righteousness that takes him to Heaven; it is Christs righteousness that takes the sinner to Heaven. From earth to heaven is all Gods work, not the sinners.
There were teachers around in the first century telling young Christians the same thing. Regarding this John warned: "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous." 1 John 3:7
No man who has fallen in sin has the right to dictate how he stands in the Presence of The Holy God. That which is born of flesh is flesh. That which is born of spirit is spirit. Just as the first birth (flesh) cannot be reversed (inverted), the second birth (spirit) cannot be reversed. In either case the sinner had no say in the birth process. It is heresy to tell the sinner, if you do not shape up, God will invert (un-born) you from His Spiritual Family. Neither can the sinner un-born himself.
its not I that do it, but sin in me that does it! You talk as though we are two natured beings as christians, we are not. We are saved by grace through faith(that not of ourselves) the power of sin si still in our mortal bodies insisting we live against our true nature, Christ in me, as me, thru me. I am not going to say that we are to live in sin, but at the same time we know that we will sin.

Believe in Him, not the false, sin-coddling Christ of modern, pop Christianity.
Jude 24 "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy."
John 8:34, 36 "Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Was Paul "attacking" Peter when he withstood him to the face in front of the church in Gal 2:11?
Was he "attacking" Hymenaeus and Philetus in 2 Tim 2:17 when he openly rebuked them for bad doctrine?
Was Jesus "attacking" those who held the doctrine of the Nicolaitans in Rev 2 when he chastised them?
Under the banner of love, mercy and grace the modern church has attacked the whole counsel of God.
