Christians will sin. There are some sins that lead to death and others that do not. We should be encouraging one another as we see the day approaching. I do not encourage sin, far from it. However, if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. I started watching this clip and thought, 'Oh, another preacher trying to point out the faults of someone who seems to be a genuine believer (swindoll) and relatively sound teacher of the gospel' Swindoll seems fine to me

You say that "Christians will sin" and then quote "whosoever abideth in him sinneth not." It is one or the other. You can't go two directions at once. Every human being is headed in one way or the other. When you sin against God, you are headed toward hell until you repent. The big problem with most modern day preachers is that they don't preach repentence. They mislead by saying that all you have to do to be saved is "accept Christ or receive Christ." without repenting.

Dont quote PART of a scripture.. the second half of rom 6:23 says the Free gift of God is grace..

What you are looking at are two different things.. Salvation and Sanctification.

Salvation is strictly by FAITH..

We cannot be Sinless.. but we can Sin less..

Sanctification is a slow process by where we lean not on our selves but on God in the form of the Holy spirit to work towards conforming to the Image of Christ.

While I appreciate your motives, you are clearly twisting the intention of Dr. Swindoll's message. Every 'saved' Christian continues to sin... we are hopelessly depraved. Dr. Swindoll has simply illustrated that 'saved' or not, there are Earthly consequences for choosing sin. David chose sin. He is reaffirming that you cannot lose your salvation. There is only one unforgiveable sin and we all know what that is. I hope you will rethink these heretical teachings you have put forth.

Living free from all sin is the purpose of the gospel, the cross and grace. Not only can you live without sin, if you don't you are refusing the salvation Jesus offers.

Christ came to save you from your sin...not in it as modern "Christian" teachers teach.

the wages of sin is death is for non believers, how can you possibly answer 1 john 5:17 "all unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not unto death"....if we confess our sin he is just to forgive us our sin. that means we are continous sinners unto death..if we say we have no sin we are liars and the truth is not in us. the sin unto death is not relying on Christ for our salvation, which now becomes works..not faith. as christians , we will always sin in our human bodies (which stinks) GRACE!!

Amen. I love Chuck Swindoll and he is a great speaker however, Chuck is a false teacher when it comes to what you must do to be saved. Faith without works is dead. Mark 16:16 Jesus is quoted "he who believes and is baptized shall be saved" Gods word is wonderful. God has told us what to do. When Paul was blinded Jesus told him where to go and he would be told what he MUST do. It is quite simple. Amazing, Hear the word, believe, repent , remain faithful. Satan can appear as an angle of light.

It doesn't really sound like you and Swindoll have a difference in doctrine. It sounds like Swindoll is talking about how as Christians we can grieve Gods' spirit through sin, and some of the consequences thereof. There's a difference in sinning which we all do, and living a lifestyle of sin. I agree often times ministers can water down the gospel. i just don't think that's the case in this situation.

No man who has fallen in sin has the right to dictate how he stands in the Presence of The Holy God. That which is born of flesh is flesh. That which is born of spirit is spirit. Just as the first birth (flesh) cannot be reversed (inverted), the second birth (spirit) cannot be reversed. In either case the sinner had no say in the birth process. It is heresy to tell the sinner, if you do not shape up, God will invert (un-born) you from His Spiritual Family. Neither can the sinner un-born himself.

Of course the followers of Evans and Swindoll (and any other modern, rock star preacher) is "sound" to those who like/follow them.

I challenge you to look at it objectively. Tony Evans' "Carnal Christian" teaching is so extreme that not a hint of it can be found in historic Christianity - except as it is debunked as heresy.

The problem is that the modern church is too busy with TV and movies to study.

Do you actually believe that all of Christianity is unsound and only Evans is sound?

I only heard one "against" argument in this video, it was referring to CS's statement that you can chose sin, and have misery? or chose righteousness. My question to you is, do you believe in a sinless redemption this side of heaven? if not, then what happens to you, this side of heaven when you sin? Trust me, I am not talking about cheap grace ( joel osteen, keri shook, ect.) I am asking, what do you say of Christians that sin? Do you say they lose their salvation if not perfect?
