I think guitarist should be judged based on the good tunes they have wrote, not skill, who gives a shit about a guy that can play a thousand notes a minute if he cant write a good riff or a good solo..Slash falls under the category of a the least technically proficient guitarist, but he is self made and he writes great music, good rock n roll riffs and solos, he has never tried to be anything else than a rock n roll guitar player, and that earns much respect from everyone

if you want to compare/judge a guitarist objctive, you have to compare the tequnice, the uniqueness of their sounds or their songwritting skills (in case of harmonie, chord changes, key changes ect)
