"Raving egomaniac?" Definitely not. I met up with him a coupe of times as I worked the in the bar biz in Austin during his reign, and Steve Vaughn was the nicest, most unpretentious human being considering his popularity. Truly a nice guy.
SRV had every right to be a "raving egomaniac". He was on another plane of artistic existence. Who gives a fuck about his personality? I just wanted his music. What a loss.
Lee Atwater, campaign advisor to Bush I, was a blues guitarist in his spare time. He also devised the infamous Willie Horton ad that help sink the Demo doofus's candidacy. For that he apologized on his death bed from brain cancer, I seem to recall. Pretty sure he instigated this momentous occasion.
I must agree Smudgefizz I saw Jimmie on tour w/ Robert Cray a while back, and he can really lay it down, not as well as little bro, but in some videos, ie: "Rock Me" w/ B.B King, Clapton, and Buddy Guy he was a little less than impressive.
@Unclemoparman man the Vaughan brothers may be saved, their presence was/is an addition to this fine form of art...if he Jammie says so then its so..Collins was a very unique breed of players ..so was lil' Steive, Albert and the godfather Elmore. That was MUSICA.
@Unclemoparman I worked with all three. Jimmy Vaughn was human. Albert considered himself an icon indendent of the rest t of the world. SRV was a raving egomaniac. Yeah, I sat in with both of them is studio
Good to see Jimmie playing some real lead guitar for a change, but his guitar is too quiet until 1:34 for some reason. And Albert's pretty hot on rhythm guitar, goddamn! Reese was keyboard player in the first incarnation of the Allman Brothers, until Duane decided to ask his brother to sing lead vocals, & of course Greg plays organ too, so Reese was out of luck.
I have a good quality video of the entire gig. When I learn how to convert tape to PC digital and then learn how to post vids on this site, I will post it.
WOW!!!!!! I have this whole performance on audio and I never thought I'd see a video of it! If there's anymore please put it up or steer me to a place where I can find it

@Zenabirg just that Albert would not be bested, his style and attitude and tone cut everybody. Remember Thorogood at the Live Aid show? Murder!
