Been diving NSW Australia and occaisionaly Victoria. I think pearls are much rarer hear. Not 1 in 3 more like 1 in a hundred. Been told you find them in the guts which i rarely check. Or sometimes attached to the shell. Any other Sydney based divers out there?
Hey Monto, nice vid. Hope to see you up at Salt Point again. Are the pearls along the underside of the shell? I was told that they were in the big comma shaped stomach?
I have a bunch of those pearls that I have found in abalone over the years. Are they worth anything? I always just throw them in a little 35 mm film canister and put em in my gun safe to look at sometimes and show people. I easily have 3 canisters full of em and would never sell them but I wonder if they are worth anything.
The kids were great in the video too. I'm glad to see that they were excited for the pearls. I find them less often these days maybe 1 out of 3 abs have em....
Cool technology and your girls are adorable. I'm sure they'll be joining you in the ocean in a few years. Don't know how you found so many pearls because I suck at it! How big were your abs by the way?

just a suggestion: if you pop the meat in the front and peel it off from the back, all the guts stay in the shell and you only get the meat out.
