I lived on swona whilst building a new lighthouse on the isle, braw yet dangerous place. I remember being chased to work each morning by a big black bull! we lived in one of the empty crofts. Watching the selkies ride the rip tide like professional surfers was great intertainment

What an amazing film! Yes, there is a herd of feral highland cattle on the island and because they are regarded as unique, they are being studied by agricultural scientists etc.

Swona Like nearby Stroma sit in the middle of the Pentland Firth, a beautiful but dangerous seaway. That tidal surge on the turn of the tide is not to be played with.
