While I appreciate the fine art skill demonstrated here, I do not see how it is a video of drawing hands when it appears to me more of finishing work. The hands are already done. How they were draw was never shown.

@hobbitboy666 in a way, it is a talent, because to have talent is to have a good eye for detail. some ppl see a lamp and just draw the top and a stick, while really its bolts, the stand, the way the shadow hits the stand when lit. little details that some people just take for granted and forget that these things are there.

The problem with drawing from a photograph is that you are limited by the brightness and contrast of the photo you can easily over work a drawing, and you're not making the same observations and adjustments that you would in real life. Thats why the hands in this pose are so hard to draw the detail was blown out by the camera. The camera has made the value decisions for you, and also distorted the image.

It's the same idea as for photos in black and white; we know we could get colours on them, but what if we prefer the result we got with graphite pencil?

There's something mesmerizing and mysterious about those drawings made with pencils.

Some colour drawings are amazing, don't get me wrong, but the effect isn't quite the same especially when dealing with characters - fictionnal or real.

So, it's not better - it suits a different purpose.
