ja robin is ook de live bassist... en sean doet het studio werk, hij wil/kan niet touren ofzo. maar maybee neemt robin dat ook over op het volgende album!
being a long time cynic fan, gotta say that your interpretation is pretty good, but you MUST pay attention to the "stiffness" thing other ppl are saying. This song gotta "flow" through, and there are some parts in wich it seems you're un crack :-D
im thinking of picking this kit up and i was woundering 2 things 1. how responsive is the stock kick trigger, many misses or double hits 2. how tall are you and does the set feel cramped at all im about 5,11 and ive heard some people complain about it being cramped thank you
I can provide that answer as I have one of my own. The kick is great. I bought a used kit so for me it misses very rarely. Never any misses or double hits on the pads. I am 6'1 and yes, sometimes it feels cramped for me.
hey i'm thinking the same way, but i think i'm going for td-3 after comparing in youtube.. i'll do a comparison once more with the real kit.. hey it's been 2 month ago since ure asking this, which kit do you buy? :-)
yeha im gonna kill mine if hes gonna act like this forever , i have a td3 also but not this high hat i use the same pad for high hat as toms. but that foot thingy is so hard to close at my place, maybe its broken or something i dont know , sucks
can you please tell me if the pads are making too much noise?i mean will they be annoying to my neighboors?i m sorry for my english if they are don't right...
thanks...do you think that is a good kit to buy?because i think to buy it or buy the yamaha dtxplorer or the alesis dm5 pro.what kit do you suggest?I want a kit that don't make noise when i play with headphones...
thre are three reasons why i think metallica influence cynic alot. that heavy part that repeats into a clean section at the end. reminicent of "to live is to die". in the 1991 version of uroboric forms there is a bend in the opening riff copying that distinctive bend in the opening of "sad but true" and in their new song "evolutionary sleeper" the into if it had lars ulrich slowly fading in on a steady 4/4 is very "orion"-like
yeah ive seen this a 2nd time. you recorded this song perhaps at 75% original speed got it perfect then changed the playback speed to match the original recording
get a life stephenpetersen. you know it would help you.
to stradale13. it would help you explained why your footage is funny looking. at 0:41 the way you turned on your seat was strange looking like it was sped up. if you can play this song on the drums then sure i give you credit for being better than me. but i was refering to the visual side of it
no you dont sorry. but regarding him already explaining that. he replied to me saying youtube has a problem but since no other videos have this problem then he needs to look at why it only effected his.
anyway i was suggesting he write that in the introduction. he hasn't put any information there about it.
so look you dont understand whats being discussed here. leave it alone
Dude there are a MILLION other reasons it could look out of sync, the very least of which is that I recorded it at "half speed". If you say this doesn't happen on the millions of other videos on YouTube, then fine. Its probably the program I used to re-encode the video from an AVI to a WMV. If you're THAT sure that I "faked" it then I can send you an upload of the original raw AVI file.
ok... but do the mesh heads affect the playability. How well the pad plays? Is it easier for the trigger to pick up rolls on a mesh head compared to a rubber pad?
it's in 6\8.......not 4\4...... re-study this song dude....( i perfectly know this is a fucking difficult piece4.... but do it right or don't do it.....)....bye
Actually the beginning is in 9/8, and the heavy part is 6/8 and 5/8 mixed meter. The groove section in the middle IS in 4/4 and the slow section is in 7/4.
Watching a musician intently, especially during a piece as complex as this, gives the song a whole new dimension.
If only i had a band capable of doing something like 'Textures'... My graduation recital (guitar degree) was pretty much all about that piece, but i had to prep an 8-track playback in advance just to cover up the drums, bass and chapman stick :).
Part of what makes Sean Reinert a unique metal drummer, is his Jazz inspiration and technique.. And i fear you fall through, and show your weakness in that area (looked at the acoustic vid too). Kudos for musictaste and effort, but my general impression was that you haven't payed enough attention when listening to it, because you play a lot of things different (not neccessarily a bad thing of course, but in many cases here, easier than the original).
I worked on this for two weeks. On and off. I have played in NUMEROUS jazz groups, small to big band, and have a degree in percussion from Eastern Illinois University. I guess now I will have to upload a video of me playing some jazz to prove your statement wrong.
Hehe.. I never said you didn't have any jazz education/experience, which I guess you do then. But my impression is still that you lack the dynamics and groove this song has in it. Where is the jazz bounce and double strokes!? 2 weeks is a short time, and by all means put out more videos to prove me wrong. I'm not trying to personally offend you, just telling you my honest opinion. Keep on drumming.
Keep up with that stuff bro. You definitely made me wanna get in a Cynic cover band with ya on that one. But I don't really know any of their stuff...How bout some KC? Can you do any of their stuff?

What are the advantages of the mesh head snare? I know it was built to feel more like an acoustic snare, but does it affect how well it plays?
eyescalledbeauty 4 years ago
The mesh head feels almost exactly like a real drum head on a real drum. There is NO better trigger imo.
stradale13 4 years ago
ok... but do the mesh heads affect the playability. How well the pad plays? Is it easier for the trigger to pick up rolls on a mesh head compared to a rubber pad?
