Hey Matt,

I saw you live at the Hell Fire Festival in Birmingham 2009 and you were absolutely amazing. You told a story about a tune you wrote whilst you had an injured back. I cant remeber exactly what it was called?....but it was an angry song and I loved it! What is it called and can you post it on youtube / myspace for others to see too??

Ah, that would be "Bad Backs" which appears on the 2nd and most recent album "Whatever Next?"! I do enjoy that one - you may see it posted online in the not too distant future...

@mattmarriottacoustic dude you are using laney amp right?? what is youre eq setting?

@aldobu1990 at the time of recording I didn't have a Laney amp so the guitar was going into a regular mixer! I'm not sure on the make. On the guitar, the EQ was pretty flat, a little extra treble, not too much mid range. The mic/piezo blend about halfway. The string gauge at the time was 13-56 so no too much bass! A little extra reverb added. On my Laney 65 I tend to have the bass and lo mid higher than the hi mid and treble, tweaked here and there depending on the venue! Hope that helps!!

@cstillpass: I hate it when guitar fanboys like you wanna get into a pissing contest on youtube. If you are a fan of music like this you should know better. When players play at this level ( and yes this guy is at that level) its stupid to say one is better than the other. Its all about style and what you prefer. And yes I am a big fan of Andy McKee but its not up to me to decide who is superior nor do I care. i just listen to the music.

Oh... great sound here by the way, just awesome.

@jay5775 : Thanks Jay, much appreciated! It's natural for some people to draw comparisons between guitar players. I've been compared to Andy McKee favourably and not so, but at the end of the day I do what I do and he does what he does! And I have to say that Andy McKee is one of my all time favourite guitar players.

Hey I saw you at Stafford Grammar too. I just subscribed to you I was one of the guys at the end who played guitar and you gave me your CD. I listened to it loads and it is amazing. Open C#! Low to high - C#,G#,C#,F,G#,C#. It's effectively open D tuned down a half step. I use Elixir 13-56 to keep the tension so nothing is too floppy!!
