i bet he held the space bar. try it, but careful, notice how it slowed down? it shut down my browser when i got too high.

You're right, it works. You can also use the spacebar to help the guy safely reach the bottom of the stairs.

The spacebar isn't mentioned in the instructions anywhere and I wonder what the game designers intended it for.
