@HomeworkHelper1 It depends on the structural stability of the floor board. If it's slanted downward (toward Bruce Willis) even slightly then the ring would move backward.

basicaly, she's a ghost, adn her husband used to attack her and stuff so she killed her self. it tells you in the film that the ghosts see only what they want to see, so she saw the boy as her abusive husband. it is just used as an exaple of what some of the ghost are like that visit him, its not of any relation to him.
