So I see that the launch pad in the middle is connect by a double ended USB?
What if my synth doesn't have a USB input on the back do they make a cable that has midi end on one end and a USB on the other to connect to the launch pad? And would it work/can i designate beats/instrumentals to certain pads from the piano?
I've had my Ultranova for about four months now. I really love it. It's very easy to get under the hood and create sounds. Some of the factory sounds are good starting points to tweak, but it's easy to go to an Init patch and make something all yours. Filters are nice, and the routing options are pretty sweet. Only wish it was multitimbral.
@NovationTV thx tim its work all ready conntact with novation maybe i talk with you before technical support but one things is problem when i trying changing the ultranova editor patch its freezing second in ableton live need to new updating editor
@belagiorgo We need to resolve this issue via the Support page as Youtube is not the appropriate forum. Please personally message us with your case number.
all ready i have ultranova but not enjoy i need help for me plz setup my ultranova and komplete audio 6 to ableton live its no sound at all in editor help me plz
See Novation, this should of been the original promo video, not that patronising tosh you put up first.
Same it isn't multi but you can't have everything at this price.
Being able to stream audio and a decent editor is more important to me than a multi mode.
I think novation have made quite a good product here and the nova engine has sounded good for years. I think the integration is the big seller here, hope ppl don't miss that.
Fuck this is a killer demo but JESUS CHRIST why did dubstep become so popular to the masses but not other forms of electronic music? I mean god, I know people that love dubstep but hate DnB, WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DIFFERENCE?
@ZackISsLVA This is isn't pure Dubstep. It's another progressive subgenre of it. You can see where this is heading. Dubstep might be the mainstream replacement for pop or hip hop.
@TomZentra lol its a demo video to show it off not a track. Dubstep will never replace hiphop same as jungle/drum and bass didn't replace it in the 90s. It might borrow from it same as any underground music but thats what pop music does, borrow from the underground music at the time, that's its nature.
I'd love to hear someone play some Mendelssohn on one of these, just to hear if it has that kind of reach. Or even some Genesis, Camel or Renaissance.
Good effort here, and very skilled, I'm sure. I just don't ever listen to this kind of sound. It doesn't move me.
Interesting use of the Ultranova, but the Sound and everything else of this fine little synthesizer is much greater than those stuttering FX. I realy like this synth.
Why is everyone so negative!? The guy did it, if you can do it better, do it better, I can't stand whinging muso geeks who just complain, get on with your lives and do something yourself...
@mannimusic I think the main thing is, not everyone is into this kind of sound. But you rarely see a video of someone using kit like this to play a section of, say, Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio. The sponsored music selections are are usually from a very narrow range of popularity, which tends to gentrify a particular instrument and quickly loses the interest of anyone working or listening outside of that genre.
@planetice Don't tell me what I need to learn and not learn you little shit face. My musical education is substantial. What I said was in jest, and people with personality & sense of humour understood it hence the 16 likes.. If you want to talk to me personally about something I said generally at least make it relevant, if you have a grudge against 4/4 and harmony don't bring up your argument when somebody's talking about LFO rate modulation.. Wtf?
demasiado desperdicio de tecnologia y dinero para solo tocar dos 3 notas en el sinte mucha faroles la neta.... yo hago cosas mejores con un axiom pro y solo un launchpad saludos..!!
@TheDjRavix One of the cool things about Ultranova, is that you can run MIDI AND AUDIO into your computer. In this case, the performer is recording LIVE audio loops into Ableton live using the USB cable to carry high-quality digital audio. That way a track mix was generated inside Ableton on the fly that was later put to the video. It should be noted that not many synths can do this, especially at this price.
Excellent!!! i'v been using the launchpad for about six months now, with no experience at all with Live.... i just gotta say friends and myself r impressed with what i can do!! I am getting into making Dubstep music, so i think the next step is to get the UltraNova, also a must have is the Zero SL MKII :) am getting tire of controlling some of the knobs with the trackpad or mouse.
i really like the Ultranova and it can make a lot of great sounds. This video was sweet right until that wobbly bass came in. so over used and shames the synth in my opinion.
@MigoiMusic I think it's just a regular user 1 mode with a custom drum rack (hence the "yeah" sample) and some beat repeaters and other effects mapped to the pads on the right of the Launchpad. This trick is actually similar to what he does in the official Launchpad promo. I've never seen Matt do Max 4 Live yet.
The Ultranova's Sound engine is on the hardware synthesiser. i.e. it does not require a computer to generate sound. It's an audio interface too.
In this case, two channels (the synth engine output) are sent to the computer via USB. The whole performance (both audio and MIDI) is then recorded into Live and can be 'mixed down' to an audio file, in the same way as any other Ableton Live project.
The UltraNova also has a VST/AU/RTAS editor that can be run in any DAW software.

Lol ... I actually noticed that the Audio Outputs on the Ultranova aren't used
I Remember reading that the USB connection only provides Midi Transfer and not any Audio
If I remember correctly even the VST editor does notefie this
So How is it Possible that it's working this way ???

@NovationTV So If I am correctly it should be possible to send the synths sound back into your DAW
however If I look into my setup I only see two Audio inputs that can be send into the DAW
than again I wonder how He was able to hear what he was doing ???
