I have build kits, not complete laser builds. You would have to have some basic soldering skills. And be able to mount a diode into the AixiZ module. Pretty easy though. Google jayrob pocket mini.
It is a learning process. Building it alone is a huge learning process. But there are some nice build videos on HeliFreak. Go with one that has parts easily available, like the T-rex's.
The other thing is, you pretty much have to have a simulator on your computer. ($200) The thing is, it has to be a 'reflex'. 20 minutes a day on the simulator for a couple of weeks and you will be ready to start hovering.
The best sim is Realflight G3. Anything lighter than a t-rex 450 is not going to be too good outside because even the slightest wind will affect the lighter heli's.
Started with those cheap little junk ones from Costco. Lol! That just makes you want to get one that you can actually control! There's a good indoor one that I like. It is an E-flight Blade CX2.
did you have that thing upside down?

So uh... Jayrob... can you give me a quote for one of these copters equipped with a burning 1watt infrared laser diode and ccd camera? :-D

Ha ha! I'm sure the Air force has things like that on a real heli...

But, I can't afford a real helicopter! ;)
BTW, your custom laser builds are excellent! Any chance you might still be building them?

I never knew you had a T-Rex!:D How long have you been flying? (I want a honeybee FP, how hard will it be to fly one?)
Great piloting!

Ok! The spare parts for the honey bee is like $1-$7! And Xheli sells the simulator for $20! Do you think Xheli is a good place to buy from?

I like Grandrc and Readyheli...
