I think that judging by current trends in civil right legislation, she would be beneficial to legalizing gay marriage rather than setting it back. Right now, it's just political games, and that's never anything new. Gay marriage will happen eventually. Akin to the backlash against anti-miscegenation, no amount of fighting against it will change its inevitability. I just hope it isn't forced like in Sweden, where churches have no choice but to perform ceremonies whether they want to or not.
Lack of support need not equal opposition. I don't believe she would fight against any state that wanted to confer the title of marriage. She has never asserted anything to that effect. I believe that she is saying: "You want to call it marriage? You want to call it civil unions? You want to quibble over a word? Okay. However, you don't get to quibble over their rights. You don't get to quibble over their lives. You don't quibble over their humanity." I think it is pragmatic position to take.
She pretty obviously skirts the issue. It's amazing how she can talk so much without actually saying anything. Translation: I don't give a shit about you, I don't support your issues, but vote for me anyway.
She avoids concrete policy issues (which she is weak on) and mushes it up with vague emotional appeals.
She's not in favor of gay marriage. Period. That says more than five minutes of beating around the bush.
the gay community are those who actively support and fight for LGBT rights. u dont have to be LGBT, AND just because you're gay doesnt mean you're in the community.
Well said. My soulmate is a male, and I do not consider myself a member of the community, mainly because I consider homosexuality a trait, not a behavior, and cannot condone the stereotypical behavior.
well, stereotypical isnt what the community is about. If you identify as gay (or queer) and want to be in the community then there u go. homosexuality is a behavior: having sex with people of the same sex. being gay (or LGBT watev) is a social identification that doesnt limit you to stereotypes. for instance, i identify as gay, but i would never in a million years consider myself stereotypical.
i see it as genetics /traits cause it run in my family as in pattern it skips 1 generations each time. It not a choice nor is it a psychological problem even (Its how people are borned)
politics should have any say over who you marry. we need our freedom back. our fredom to live however we want. we need ron paul
