Kate won for The Reader not Revolutionary Road ( the film she made with Leo ) so it wouldn't have been approprate to mention him concidering he was her co-star in a compeateing film. She definately would have thanked him profusely if it had been for Revolutionary Road .When she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress for Revolutionary Road she got very emotional in thanking him , telling him she loved him . When she was announced as the winner she even hugged Leo before her husband Sam.

OK, I love her an all, but this sort of behavior isn't healthy. She is telling anyone who would listen how much she really wants an oscar, she has an anxiety attack before the ceremony, and now she is clutching the award an talking to herself. And reports state that she has been on awards show with it and can't put it down. I love her to death, but she needs to seek help. What would she have done if she had lost to Meryl Streep?
The Oscars is the king of all award shows in the entertainment business, so naturally every actor would want one. To earn one is symbolic of high achievement. Acting is Kate's greatest passion, so to be acknowledged in that way by her peers means a lot. I felt the same way when I won this writing contest in my city because literature is my passion. I can understand how Kate feels.
And don't believe everything you read in the media. The media likes to exaggerate things. If I believed everything the media says, then Leonardo Dicaprio is supposed to have converted to Judaism now in order to marry Bar Rafaeli.
Exactly!! If he ever converts to Judaism, he's not like honestly deep down. Because he's Christian right? Christians don't just switch over to Jewish so they can marry.
These are all things I heard from her. Also, don't be caught in the hype. The Oscars are simply a national award, just like the Baftas for the British, and the Ceasar Award for France. It is not the king of all Award shows. It's just as corrupt and political as every other award. I don't know why people are always blinded by the mentality that because it is American, then it must be the best. Please.
RelicHunter, it's because the film industry has always been linked to Hollywood. That is in America love, and the Academy Awards is the oldest ceremony to recognize the industry.
Excuse me if the Genies are not as prestigious or renowned as the Oscars. The Academy Awards are the oldest and most revered awards in the medium/media.. Anyone who's anyone in the business strives for one. Don't pretend that the awards mean nothing in the industry or that it's only an American thing. That's why they're televised the world over.
I wonder if she felt she'd end up like Deborah Kerr, who (like Kate) was nominated 6 times in the course of a decade and never won. I guess that's why she seemed surprised/relieved/overjoyed when her name was called.
