  • Isn't Bart suppose to be much younger??? He looks older than Corrine.

  • If the grandmother thought they were such sinners, than she should have put the girls in 1 room & the boys in another. no shit Sherlock!

  • @angeliaclaire she lockecd them in so they couldnt

  • man the kids are stupid.

  • This is funny! The older kid coulda whopped up on any of those old farts living in that house!

  • come on your buffy kick her Ars man.lol

  • its like hello get a job at mcdonalds have your other kids get a job any where instead of living with a wacko of a mother lol. but ofcorse its a movie.

  • - taking off his belt -

OMFG, FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME OF THE INCESTT<33

    oh.... thats a let down.

  • What the heck were they doing I would have gone straight to the fridge

  • and that's all they came up with for the swan bed?

    I'm not impressed

  • THEY SHOULD HAVE GRABBED THE TWINS AND RAN LIKE HADES! DANG!

  • shut up lassie, and why did they go upstair instead of out the house of look for a phone or food. typical weirdo film.

  • I dont knw bout yall but @ tht point I would hve picke up the phone n dialed 911...but thts just me...

  • Does anyone else get the feeling that grandpa likes the mom in more than a fatherly way?

  • @n31shaboo it is because they have been starved for two weeks and the twins are lacking nutrients. Blood contains nutrients and that is why he fed it to them ._.

  • dude i dont remember ANY of this in the book... wtf!?

  • im confused y did he cut his rist

  • F*** the room and clothes! Find the kitchen .. then the front door! ( After you kick "Grandmother's" ass ).

  • Why does Bart have a mullet?

  • Im I the only on concerned about those twins? If they were starving...why didn't they try 2 get them some food??

  • CAthy looks so old now with that boy-short hair style. Her face suits longer hair.

  • this movie is upsetting. Their siblings are starving and instead of just kicking the door down and knocking that old bitch out they're gonna sit back and watch? Also why the hell would you go in the grandfathers room and risk being seen? all those months of captivity for nothing because he saw you? What a bunch of idiots, must be all that inbreeding..

  • Not how I pictured the swan bed...but okay.

  • They could have made Cathy's hair a little cuter. She looks like a Beatle.

  • @SheddyShankbone in the book she the grandmother didnt cut off her hair she ordered chris to do it and when he did not she put tar in it while she slept chris was able to get it out but when the grandmother didnt bring food he just cut the front of her hair and had her cover the rest with a scarf the grandmother still didnt feed them for 2 weeks

  • @JENNnEDed I mean the people who made the movie could have made it look a little prettier. I've read the book so I understand the circumstances, but did her hair have to look this ugly?! Girls can have short hair WITHOUT looking like Paul McCartney. :l

  • @SheddyShankbone LOL Yeah BIG POINT! HAHA!

  • @SheddyShankbone I liked how she looked with the hair cut.

  • @SheddyShankbone Yeah....Dingo.

  • @SheddyShankbone they were trying to tell us how evil the grandmother is

  • I vont to suck your BLUD, Christopher!!!

  • @NationPam7 so i saw this comment and thought it was just some stupid weird thing about chris being good looking but now i get it hahaa xD

  • that butler dude is like the one from tomb raider he's freakin everywhere! and not to mention sneaky!

  • lol the grandfather waking up and grabbing them didnt happen in the book !

  • no offense for those who think im wrong but .. wasn't cathy suppose to be beautiful?? even with her long hair i dont think shes beautiful

  • @Heartlikearock87 I agree. In the books she was described as looking like and angel and with such a rare beauty. I've seen many more actors from back then who were much more beautiful.

  • funny how cathy ends up having bart's kid...

  • I love how easily Cathy turned to lights on in her mother's closet.....that is the first time she ever saw those lights?????

  • omg... Bart is ******* ugly!! nothing like wut dey described!! thumbs up if you agree!

  • so while ma niqqas dora and boots decided to play explore time, they couldnt snag there starving siblings some food?

  • @justwannacomment66 Yo!! I was thinking the same thing!!!!

  • @justwannacomment66 I was just going to post that too. FUNNY! Why did they go in there anyways. Idiots. I would have snuck into the kitchen PRONTO. Raid the fridge and go.

  • i think she looks better with short hair. Take THAT grandma from hell.

  • they suck at trying to tippy toe!

  • He said, "i always loved you best, Corrine."

This movie irritates me beyond belief. Its NOTHING like the book. Bits are missing, random scenes are added in, and the acting is terrible. A remake definately needs to be done.

  • before watching this movie, you should read first the "Garden of Shadows"- it's Olivia's POINT OF VIEW.. You will understand her, why she acts like that.. You really can't blame her... and all the secrets and questions about this movie will be found on the said book. :)

  • yah DOWN WITH CORINE FOXWORTH!

  • ok in 7 the last thing she was saying was them running away. wheres the rest of it??

  • the mother is a selfish bitch

  • In the book...Cthy and Chris became loving...I mean banging each other....In part 1 GARDEN OF SHADOWS You'll learn that Corrine isnt the grandmother biological daughter...she is the grandfatherS daughter...grandfather raped his own fathers 19 year old wife which is Corrines real mother....You all have to get GARDEN OF SHADOWS....BETTER YET ALL THE BOOKS...ITS A SERIES...I PROMISE YOU THEY ARE GOOD...THE MOVIE IS CRAP COMPARING TO THE BOOKS!!!!! Corrine also had the kids ith her BROTHER NT UNCLE

  • @saktress that part isnt meant to be read until last though because when you read it youre meant to have a solid hate for the grandmother in your mind and youre meant to think you know the story and then it comes with the twist and everything you know changes as realisation dawns on you. so technically its not the first book it is the last one

  • @bellaITALIA312 Tell me something i dont know

  • @saktress just saying.. you clearly said garden of shadows is part 1 but its part 5

  • nice movie

  • Movies ok, but the book was so much better.

  • if that was me, i would have got some FREAKING FOOD!!! stupid dumbasses....

  • the children are stupid for thinking there mother is on their side cuz by now i will now for sure my mother do not care about me..

  • That man isn't Bart! He looks nothing like the Bart I, and I'm sure many other people who read the book, would imagine. I thought the movie was okay and I wasn't sure why everyone kept complaining...until I read the books! They were wonderful and gorgeously written. Now I know why everyone is making such a fuss.

  • Poor Chris is in denial.

  • the part with the grandfather didnt happen in the book did it?

  • What does the grandfather say when he grabs the kids?

  • Comment removed

  • @jetsundolma1, i think he said "I wish you the best Corrine," I know he said best and Corrine.

  • ... something I never understood from either the book nor the movie is why if they are just as starved and malnourished as the twins Chris gave him his blood? I mean it will have no real nutrients since he hasn't eaten either. ._.U

  • @akissy It isn't about nutrients. Chris feeds Cory his blood in order to prevent him from dying from starvation, not from his illness. Blood is better than nothing I guess.

  • @DeaneShafortock Well starvation = lack of food that gives you nutrients to live. So yeah, that's why I asked. o.o

  • I own the DVD now. I saw the film on a gray sky saturday when I was about five sometime in the 80's. All I can say is after the kids survived and got out the grandmother would have had one hell of a lawsuit on her hands. And definite prison time. Which of course is warranted. This is modern day of course.

  • The grandfather is so creepy. Claw hands and everything ewww :(

I actually hate corinne, glad she dies :D

  • I love the way chris pushes the servant out of the way

  • if only they had tried to get it right from the book!

  • when he cut himself I got goosebumps!!.. he's so brave!

  • I thought the film left too many things out. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good film worth watching. It's just that parts of the story didn't make as much sense as it did in the book. For one thing, I expected the twins to make more of a fuss about everything that was going on. I still remember the first tantrum over breakfast: "WEEE DON'T LIKE BACON AND EGGS!" LOL. The story works better when you hear more of the ever-changing moods of the characters.

  • I know I watched the movie.

  • Chris is a really brave guy... he would cut his hand so that his blood can nourish his lil bro. I mean, nearly everyone love their siblings, though they don't show it all the time, but no matter how much I love my lil sis n bro i'm still not sure if i'd do the same. Not that I wouldn't, but more like I couldn't... just watching red, sticky blood oozing out of sumone's finger made me feel close enough to death already... ewww... :(

  • @mimifakhira3005 If he was really brave he would have knocked the crap out of his grandmother and taken his family out of there just like any other 17 year old boy would do.

  • @hjb103055 The whole point is that the kids stay hidden up in the attic, because if their grandfather learns of their existence, he will disinherit their mother once again and her plan of inheriting his enormous fortune will be ruined. Thus, the kids are supposed to stay in the attic until their ill grandfather dies. It's got nothing to do with the grandmother keeping them prisoners against her will. She just wants to make their stay in the attic more unbearable by starving and beating them.

  • @mimifakhira3005 i could cut my skin for family...but could i cut off a finger or something? I dont know. My issue isnt really blood...my fear is heights. it would be a real challenge to have to climb for them :(

  • iSwear i would have knocked my mom upside her head if she evr would treat me like tht lOl

  • If you had no food for ages, wouldn't your first stop be the Kitchen?.

  • I thought the Swan Room is the most Glorious Place in the Foxworth Hall..

In this movie it looks PLAIN SCARY!!

  • i just finished this book 2 days ago, it was waaaaay better than the movie. but im still in love with the movie. lolz

  • you'd think they'd go to the kitchen first

  • can you imagine what it would be like to be imprisoned and starved to death? this is just beyond... and it happens, maybe not like this hollywood movie, but it does.

  • you gies are all boring

  • Aiigggghhh!!! I hate this movie! This isn't the right set design AT ALL. The color scheme is all wrong - it's supposed to be done in pink, plum, violet, etc., not this drab dreary brown and gold. Also, that swan bed is all wrong. It's supposed to be beautiful, not grotesque like a murder victim splayed out in The Silence of the Lambs. God, I really hope they do a re-make. This version sucks.

  • If the bro and sis go at it in the book, I will definitely not be reading it. That's just sick.

Almost as bad as "The Quiet" where the dad slept with his daughter all of the time. If I'd known I wouldn't have watched it.

    SICK!

  • @SadieMiss The book is good you shouldn't skip it cause of that. They only go at it once and it's later on in the book and it's written like Chris raped her.

  • at least they nailed one part of the book correctly.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • teehee

  • poooooooor corey

  • btw, for future sneakers...take your shoes and shocks off first :P

  • I don't understand... did the boy turn into a vampire?

  • @jk0745 Well, no. The grandmother stopped bringing them food to punish them further, and Chris feeded Cory his blood to prevent him from dying. Blood, as another user said, is nutritious, it has glycose and minerals and things and it can prevent death from starvation.

  • Oh my days the music in this movie is soooo creepy !

  • @Icegemz69 yea it's creepy but it's a beautiful creepy. It's the song cathy's jewelry box plays, but somewhat distorted which is suiting. Since their father's death, their lives have been f* up.

  • @siewen1 beautiful creepy= gothic. :)

  • @Icegemz69 please this movie is creepy in my day already! XD

  • The Swan Room (Corrine's room) doesn't look as good as I envisoned it.

  • @BabyCarlyle i agree the house itself does not look as good as i envisioned it

  • I felt like I was watching Buffy or True Blood for a second!

  • is it me or does cathy look like she should be in twilight

  • why was cathy upset when she saw their mothers room??

  • @1mnmfan Well, obviously because their mother has been living in luxury and lavishness like some goddam princess while her kids are being starved and being treated like dirt up in that locked room upstairs...

  • @1mnmfan Because it was like the mom was getting special treatment. Plus they havent seen a lively room in so long.

  • why didn't they keep the mouse's name Mickey? Not big disney fans I guess...

  • I can't believe how the Mother became the evil character in this story. Her desire for her Father's love became corrupted when her parents began to shower her with money and luxuries. She seems to completely be oblivious to her childrens' suffering; what kind of sane mother would say, with a straight face, "There will be no funeral, my son is buried already." 17 lashes with a horse whip are a lot better than what these kids had to suffer.

  • Here's an excerpt from the screenplay; "we SEE Corine now spinning gracefully with still another man, obviously the belle of the ball. Then the music stops, and a string of fanfare of the 'pomp and circumstance' variety begins. Next moment the Grandmother makes her entrance. Her hair is uncustomarily 'done', swept up atop her head in a mountain of curls, and her gown is scarlet. Both kids react in amazement. Chris: "My God, that's the first time I've ever seen her in anything but gray." .....

  • Cathy: "She looks awful." Chris: "She looks like santa claus in drag." Cathy stiffles a giggle. Cathy: "Like a lady trying to turn hooker."

In this version he kept the name of the mouse Mickey, as in the book.

  • @bono16161 Lol at the dialogue in the script. Chris and Cathy sure weren't as innocent in it as in the book. It would've been such an awesome movie if Craven eventually directed it, but I love the eventual movie too.

  • @bono16161

    Hi :)

Thanks for the uploads. I was wondering, when the grandmother looks at Corinne with jealousy when she's nursing her father, is that scene supposed to be like the scene at the beginning? I mean the one where Corinne looks at Cathy with jealousy when she's hugging her father?

  • It was the director's idea to make the movie the way it is. I've got a copy of a screenplay of this movie written by Wes Craven, you can imagine how different that version would be as well.

  • @bono16161 I meant to say a screenplay of the story, not of this movie.

  • @bono16161 can u send it to me?

  • @bono16161 please share a copy of this screen play with me, Wes Craven would have done a much much better job of this movie.

  • @bono16161 That would be worth seeing..

  • He gives off his blood for them to drink coz the granny punishes them for the "sin" she keeps on insisting they committed. How poor children they was.

  • soooooo the attic is completely pointless

  • i have read the whole book series and there is actually alot that isn't shown in the movie. like Cathy and Christopher become "more than brother and sister" but the book is DEFINITLY worth reading.

  • @sassycookergirl most definatley, ive read the whole series more than once, and theyre just amazingly written..if i could make movies i'd make the whole series, and try to do as much justice to the books :)

  • i have read the whole book series and there is actually alot that isn't shown in the movie. but the book is DEFINITLY worth reading.

  • the grandad is really creepy in a way :/

  • this movie is weird and creepy. the granmother is a psycho

  • I'd love a closet as big as Corrine's!

  • Corrine's new dress is ugly

  • Yeah it is creepy, but I think that it is a good movie.

  • I sort of like Cathy's new look and hair. She looks better that way.

  • @LittleKittyWittyAMVs Yeah, agreed. I mean, we're talking about the 1980's here, not the 1890's - short hair on girls was really normal. I would have understood the hair-cutting more if granny cut it all off, leaving big scars in the scalp.

  • @MsSarjen What the grandmother wanted to achieve wasn't punish Cathy, actually, but make her unnatractive so that she wouldn't be appealed to Chris. Remember, she thought they were banging each other, only they weren't (at least in the movie), so hacking off the hair wasn't a punishment at all, it was more like an attempt to make her ugly (and if you read the books, she was kinda jealous of Cathy's hair because Granma was actually bald and always wore a wig).

  • @DeaneShafortock Olivia (the grandmother) did the same thing to Alicia in the Garden of Shadows book because Malcolm liked her

  • thumbs up if you jumped when the grandfather opened his eyes

  • @BrittanyJane16 jumped??? i nearly died. lol. :)

  • The arsenic is killing them. Arsenic poisoning kills ur red blood cells, and obviously u need all ur bloods lol thats why some ppl use that as rat poison. It kills you quickly depending how strong u r physically... There's always a weaker sibling in a family, take Little Women...

  • their dumb for smeaking into the grandfathers room instead of getting food

  • read the book, this film sucks ass!

  • man i actually screamed when christopher cut his arm...i think the girl looks better with short hair:)

  • boy cathy just dont give a damn no more, making all that noise in the closet! lol, but i dont blame her; she's fed up.

  • the girl who plays cathy looks exactly like i pictured but she is much older!... and the twins r cubbier than i would have thought but carrie looks the same and cory is so much more cuter but his hair is too curly lol in the book its not. and chris oh dont get me started he is the cute sweet strong smart grown up guy in the book but completely!!!!! different in this movie oh and cathy is not like in the book either shes would ask lots of questions and idk just rly differnt???..

  • this movie definitely spent too much film on characters walking around and looking at eachother and weird segues... more of the original action could have been retained if the movie didn't spend do much time on nothing...

  • Bart has the ugliest haircut.

  • The sister's haircut is obviously a wig, a UGLY and hideous wig!

  • Worst film adaptation of a book I've ever seen...pitiful.

  • @Jillian1533 google "Director Jeffrey Bloom Speaks About The FITA Movie" and you'll get your answer

make sure you read it all. the poor guy...

  • He says " I always loved you the best, Corrine."

  • techinquely, that makes corrie a cannibal.

  • how prefer how they escaped in the book.. chris is able to get his hands on the key long enough to press it into a bar of soap and then he carved out an exact duplicate from a piece of wood..

  • Cathy loves the bath SOOO MUUUUCH XD

  • @samexmistake LOL :P

  • Bart was supposed to be more handsome.

  • none of this part actually happens in the book chris goes alone and the grandfather doesn't awake

  • i was in love with chris when i read the book :)

  • @karlawantsyouuu ME TOO! <3 I would have dreams of me and Chris being together, now he's my dream man.....

  • @karlawantsyouuu

yea, he was a sweetheart in the book, but i also thought he was kinda creepy. lolz.

  • The book is WAY better than the movie, but the movie still had some similarities to the book.

  • Eww! The mother's husband looks like a greaseball!

  • Starved day and night?.............Corin your lucky that I'm not there otherwise I would gag you and beat you senseless.

  • It is a sort of good movie- the background music makes it seem a whole lot better. Although, the book is fantastic, this movie to me is not good enough for a book that is so brilliant and beautifully written.

  • agreed the actors are great i think but its jsut how the movie is done it just doesn't seem right

  • I could imagine this movie being better in book form...oh WAIT it already is!

  • he gives cory his blood because its nutritious, its got minerals and stuff in it and i guess if your on the verge of dying it could actually prolonge death. maybe thats how the idea of vampires came about..

btw im just guessing...ive never read the book

    tho i want to now!!

  • @oTallySmitho You should read the book! The incestuous love story between Chris and Cathy is the main focus of the first book as well as the subsequent sequels, Petals On The Wind, If There Be Thorns, and Seeds Of Yesterday, but is pretty much ignored by the movie, unfortunately.

  • @oTallySmitho he was aspiring to be a doctor so he would probably know a lot about how blood can be helpful

  • @oTallySmitho the book is better n its realy realy realy sad

  • "I've always loved you the best Corrine"

  • @oTallySmitho, agreed.

  • @oTallySmitho

Yup the blood drinking is in the book, so is the whip lashes, but that's pretty much it, this movie left A LOT of good things out ):
