I'm no expert, but maybe hiding underneath Unagi's tail instead of above would nail that time? Since the Star drops a bit lower than him when you knock it loose, I mean...

1) it wouldn't save more than half a second, and that's being optimistic.

2) unless the star appeared on top of mario, causing you to get it the first possible frame, you will lose time turning around to get the star.

This won't save any time since the star appear below mario so you'd have to turn around since Mario can't swim backward while that way you can just keep going full speed right ahead.

There is no unless it appears on top of Mario since it doesn't, it appear when you touch it which is roughly in the middle of the hole and it goes down.

So I couldn't reply to both in the same post.

A simple trick like that would have been discovered for sure. Also the fact you're getting there from the surface you are already over so you'd have to go around.

the first point was referring to the amount of time that trick would save if worked. and no, you can't turn that around by saying something like "well then you should have said 'if it worked' because that was what i addressed in my second point. Hence my saying "you WILL lose time..." rather than "you WOULD lose time..."

How does a camera angle cause lag? Also, you never got back to me on the SM64 hack and Level editor.

When all of the water is in view, it causes the camera to lag.

What was you SM64 hack question again?

There is still some lag at the last long jump near the cannon, so you may need to use a different camera angle there.
