wht one needs to realize is many of these pieces are for red carpet events. much of the actualy ready to wear that is sold in stores isnt quite as flashy and many pieces of rtw arent even shown on runway.

pssh are you kidding me?? it all depends on how you pull it off. of course, i know that many of these aren't even produced for actual retail, but given the opportunity, i would definitely wear one of these pieces in public. and probably not to a red carpet event, seeing as i dont have any red carpet events to go to :P

no im not kidding you. yeh, u go head and wear most of this to a casual nite out or to work. youll get looked at alrite, mostly in a negative way. and dont get me wrong cos balenciaga is my favorite but this shows u havent actually been to a balenciaga boutique as most of the runway pieces are for (as the designer as stated, special events) and the other stuff in the store is more street wearable.

idk, i don't really care about being looked at. my clothes are for me. and lol i actually have been to balenciaga boutiques... I'm well aware that most of the runway pieces aren't even sold there. the looks do get "watered down". all I'm saying is that many of these pieces are actually surprisingly wearable. it really all depends on how you choose to wear them and with what. admittedly, wearing an entire ensemble exactly as styled on the runway to a casual event would be somewhat ridiculous.

I saw two of the pieces: the short skirt and the s/s jacket @ Barneys NY. The skirt was selling for around 5,000 and the jacket 4,000. The shoes were 6,000!!!

mrbeanbin, high fashion really is an extreme luxury. I actually know sons and daughters of wealthy individuals who easily spend $30,000 on a fur jacket on a casual stroll through west hollywood. Don't be discouraged, work hard and you'll find yourself closer than you think to your "dream".

Omigad @ that pink metallic jumper!!!! (And not in a good way). Collection started off interestingly enough, but soon become repetitive and one-note. I'm a Balenciaga nut, but the past two seasons (F/W 07 and this) have been disappointing. F/W 08 was a nice return to form.

Despite being one of Spring/Summer 08's most expensive garments in the fashion industry, it is in the midst of selling out incredibly quickly nearly everywhere it's sold. It has also been hailed as one of the most tremendous successes of s/s 08 and was garnered infinite amounts of praise. You're better to phrase your criticism more carefully.

i agree, F/W 07 was splendid, it blew me away, perfect Blazers, Perfect pant, perfect overall. I loved it. really.

but i also loved S/S 08, i hated it at 1st sight, because the pics were sort of low quality and seeing the show as a video, you see how nicer the clothing is. after seeing videos of this collection,& high quality photos, I loved it,i loved the shapes, the patterns , the footwear, and those metallic jumpers @ the end were divine .but everyone had different views & taste of course.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same collections. I was refering to S/S 08 and the collection immediately before that (F/W 07/08). I think you're referring to F/W 06/07, which I agree was stunning.

i really dont like this collection at all...well, i like the patterns but, i just cannot deal with the football shoulders...not complimenting @ all. but a nice effort in recreating the whole gladiator theme

This actually is more wearable than it looks. Look at the shorts and skirts underneath the jackets you could definately wear those. Also I have seen these jackets in a few editorials now, and they look really normal but chic unbuttoned. On the runway things always look High Fashion esp. at Balenciaga. You never wear something in the exact way that it was presented.

ur exactly right - and ur point of choosing not to wear any of these pieces as it was styled/presented on the runway is correct.

Some of these are separates and not as unidresses/uniforms.

i also saw some pieces already in glossies.

this is an ode to the femme form, but will take long to be fully appreciated

This is the worst dressing I've ever seen! OMG! It's lousy!! Who want's to look like their shoulders lifted miles up in the air?

But, I do like one dress, the one Ali Stephens wares (06:39). That's the only one. Jeez! Balenciaga, what happened??!

I do like the music though... Classical is still classic. And the later "remix" in the mid of the show. And I do like the mirrows. Cool but awful at the same time.
