Calling American football 'football' wouldn't be the same as calling it 'NFL' or 'Nafleague'. The sport is called football because a ball shaped object is played with at the feet. It's not that calling American football 'football' is so horrendous, it's the petty stubbornness that Americans show towards calling 'football' 'soccer' that warrants a proper thrashing.

@amishbros @amishbros You can't say that American Football requires the most power, speed, etc. If you look at Rugby Union you'll see just as much power (without the padding too), pure speed (look up Jonah Lomu), and pinpoint kicking accuracy (eg Dan Carter/Jonny Wilkinson). Australian Rules Football is similar too for speed, accuracy, but requires a lot more endurance than either. Then real football (in vid) is less athletic, but blends technique, speed and intelligence best.

But if you base the sport's legitimacy as "real football" on it being the first played or officialised, then your football is not real football. Because the laws of Austrlian rules football declared and first match played in 1858. While the FA, which formalised football, was formed in 1863. But your football is true football by its very nature, and I call it football and the other sport footy
