  • big oil fucking things up. countless cars getting this kind of mpg. why can't we get them? your telling people wouldn't but a 1/2 toyota pickup with a diesel motor that gets 35+mpg?!

  • Any way the show is going to end sooner or latter. When the oil gets to $20 a gallon it will be a different story. You can see a preamble right now on the Libyan crisis. Libya produces only the 2% of the oil output and already the prices are $3.60 were I live imagine what the price will be if something happens in Saudi Arabia that produce the 12% or the world oil output. Just do the math. Will you be able to afford your hummer or v8 truck?

  • This country is being controlled by the monopoly of oil. What they want you is to spend more and more on oil. You can see the TV how promotes trucks and v8 engines all the time brainwashing the people in order to support an industry that is already in decadence Why do you want a car that gets 200 miles in 4 seconds? to kill you faster? I see women driving hummers and v8 and ask my self if they really use that truck or just buy it to show off.

  • @Jaruco03 well where im from we buy 4x4 v8s because we actually use it we burn wood for heat so alot of times we cut wood its raining so we need a four wheel drive to get us in and out of the woods and also with enough of power to pull a load

  • @MyGta123 If you live in the country or if you have a farm a business or something like that that needs a truck that's fine, your truck is paying it self and it is being used for what it was made. My comment is for people that live in the city have no business that requires a v8 but they have it to show off and to fell more powerful to the others drivers. For what do you need a truck in downtown new york??????

  • 65 mpg is great, but in American gas is cheaper than almost anywhere else in the world and you can have more spacious and powerful vehicles, which is why if you were to walk out your front door you'd see a Hummer, an Escalade, truck, Expedition, and some V8 powered sports car go by before you see an economical car.

  • @tyIerz06 I see a lot of trucks and 4 wheelers outside because I live in a rural area. But there are a number of people on my block with toyotas and smaller cars. It's always a balance between what people want and what the vendors sale. I think VW's upcoming hybrid diesels might do well if they can get something in the price range of the toyota prius, which has been a good seller in the USA. It's not like everyone has to buy a high MPG car to make a difference.

  • @flashfyre diesel isnt big because americans arent used to it, auto makers are scared to offer a car and have it flop because the majority of the population still believes diesel equals bad for enviorment, and the prius in the hybrid world is horrible ask any hybrid mechanic the new chevy volt is freaking remarkable but what i would like to see is f150s with a 4.0 diesel twin turbo'd with a transmission gearing of the following....

  • @flashfyre 1st=5.60 2nd=2.67 3rd=1 4th=.67. and a rear end gear ratio of 3.11 not 4.10s with a 1st gear of 5.60 you dont need a 4.10 and then at .67 in 4th you could be pulling a full trailer at 70mph doing 1200 rpm hmmm looking at a truck getting 40 mpg highway..... food for thought is what im trying to give yall :)

  • @1991ProbeLX Yep many tradeoffs to consider when buying any car. If the purpose is high torque, HP, and acceleration then buying a new car purpose built for high MPG would not make a lot of sense.

  • @1991ProbeLX Yep I think it comes with a pony, too.

  • @sasht1 Watch the attitude or your comments will be deleted. That being said, I accidentally mixed the 1.4 TDI bluemotion polo with the new 1.2 TDI. Sorry about that. The reviewers for the 1.2L bluemotion polo are showing a range of 67 MPG to 74 MPG (US gallons). Your numbers are slightly higher. Still, that's better than the Ford and I appreciate the correction. It's also about $3000 more than the Fiesta, est. $23K in the USA. Thanks again.

  • @sasht1 The Ford Fiesta Diesel has been available in other parts of the world (outside the USA) for a couple of years. The VW Polo Diesel is coming in the USA in 2012 (Good News).

The Polo gets slightly lower US gallon MPG (63 vs. 65) than the Fiesta, using highway mileage.

The Polo costs about $1000 more (Using UK pound conversions : Fiesta diesel $20K USD, Polo Diesel $21K USD).

Some writers are saying the Ford Fiesta is more fun to drive, but at least we'll get something.

  • just wanna let u know that mpg in uk is not the same mpg in usa . because uk g is bigger that the usa g

  • yes it's rated higher than 65 mpg in the uk we talked about this near the start of the thread.

  • It's taken FORD this long to finally bring the Fiesta over to the states. I wouldn't hold my breath on something like this heading over anytime soon.

Ford has to figure out a profitable plan, and something this efficient will kill a number of Fusion Hybrid sales where customers might sacrifice size for cost and efficiency.

  • nice car

  • fuck you ford. fuck you. shit fuck damnit.

  • TOO PRICEY TO IMPORT

First of all, the engines are built in Britain, so labor costs are high. Plus the pound remains stronger than the greenback. At prevailing exchange rates, the Fiesta ECOnetic would sell for about $25,700 in the U.S. By contrast, the Prius typically goes for about $24,000. A $1,300 tax deduction available to buyers of new diesel cars could bring the price of the Fiesta to around $24,400. But Ford doesn't believe it could charge enough to make money on an imported ECOnetic.

  • what a stupid ass marketing move... why not sell the 65mpg version. everyone and there mother looking to buy a new car will obviously buy this! KILLING the competition. just don't understand why.... stuff likes this makes me want to move to another country...

  • I think that it is a crying shame that,"WE THE PEOPLE" must endure all of the economic down falls, and be lied to by our government, and money hungry establishment. "I AM MAD AS HELL, AND i AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.". I will monitor my congressman, and senator very closely and actively campaign against them if I find out that they are not acting in the best interest of the people.

  • Not to mention Europeans are having trouble with the engines not falling apart. I now i have a Galaxy with a Diesel.

  • AMERICA DOESN'T NEED THIS TECHNOLOGY!!!!!

Especially not with the cheapest gas prices in the world.

  • Hey kwackey2005.... Where do you get the quaint notion that America has the highest quality of living in the world? Clearly you do not travel, or read too much. Higher living standards can be found in Switzerland, Norway and some other European countries. You must be living in the past. Personally, I would love this car.... But I will probably buy a VW instead to get diesel..... I could easily afford a Ram, but I have no need or want for one, so why bother?

  • Switzerland, Norway and some other European countries....you get this from your vacation or do you really live there permanently? I assume you don't live in New Hampshire? That would be rediculous.. Simple look at liquidable cash and look at global consumption. Americans have the capability to consume on a multiple of what other nations consume. Go fill your gas tank in Europe then come back and educate us.. Don't get a ram I don't care at least as you said... YOU COULD.

  • And lastly if anyone wants to belittle americans for their ignorant point of view on how tough they have it? Or perhaps how they are "held down by the man" or how they couldn't achieve great things because they are american...please do nobody appreciates america less than Americans. Just ask them.

  • oh yeah and i got a 5000 euros reduction thanks to the new eco laws that the government made for 2009, so I got it for 12700 euros instead of 17700, which is definitely interesting...

  • I really don't understand why you guys are only getting the fiesta in 2011, that's ridiculous, I live in Belgium and it's been out since 2008, I ordered the econetic version of the fiesta last month and i should be getting it in a week or two maximum, to be honest it's not to be eco friendly that i bought it, it's because it does 65 mpg and over here that counts seeing the price of diesel. I know that in the states petrol and diesel is cheaper but believe me it wont last...

  • Actually I watched a video from a diesel mechanic that mentioned specifically that prior to us cleaning up our diesel the high sulfur was causing failure in the same components due to carbon build up in the 6.0 Powerstroke among other issues with injectors and Hi vol oil pump... I think our diesel is just barelyi catching up with the rest of the world to be honest ours is dirtier which mucks these engines up

  • The only reason why we probably won't get this is it probably can't run on this crappy ULSD that the oil companies had pushed through that shit killed my diesel's injection pump and is making diesels of all makes and models unreliable even VW says not to use it (which its a federal standard since 2007) in their TDI older than 2008 because it causes pump failer to top that off it lowers MPG in everything.

If they made this Focus I'd do whatever I could to buy it now.

  • they've been talking about diesel cars coming soon to america for the last god knows how many years. face it. it will never happen. and truth be told, americans are pretty oblivious to what is going on in the world. they think a car that gets 60 mpg is a cheap piece of shit that will fall apart. "what will happen if i get in a crash with an 18wheeler?" maybe if u don't text and drive, you won't crash you ignorant fuck!!

  • they drive piece of shit V6 gas cars that get 25 mpg. if they see the new focus advertised at 35 mpg, they're astounded. cars have been getting 35 mpg for 30 years. and everyone is too god damn stupid to drive a stick. automatics with small engines are incredibly slow, and make the car less appealing.

  • mercedes is being congratulated for building their 400 horsepower monstrosity that gets an astounding 30 mpg. how practical is that? who the hell can afford a 40 or 50 grand supercar? what a bunch of shit. i'd hate to sound like michelle obama, but i am a little ashamed to be an american. thanks for nothing you lousey son of a bitching ignoramous that calls yourself a country.

  • 40 - 50 grand is a super car? Really? Super cars must have gotten much more affordable, lol.

Diesel cars have been available in the states for many many many years, just look at all the VW and Audi diesel commercials on american television.

Gas is still MUCH cheaper in the USA then it is in Europe, ill stick to my gas guzzlers and enjoy them.

A small engine is just slow period, and I know how to drive stick, as do most people I know. You must live in the most cliche part of America.

  • sure. what diesels are available? a bunch of stupid crossovers and high performance diesels that get shitty mileage compared to economical diesels, and as i mentioned before, are expensive. audi can kiss my ass. and the number of models is a drop in the 50 gallon bucket compared to the variety offered in other countries. and i live in south minnesota, northern redneck farm country. we probably have a higher concentration of stick friendly drivers than a lot of other places.

  • VW Jetta, its affordable, great on gas, and isent a huge slow turd. Plus its not half ugly for a grocery getter.

Its pretty much the only affordable new car I can think of. But the 2.0TDI is a wonderful motor.

Nothing wrong with wasting fuel... if you can afford it, go ahead, its supposed to be a free country. Why would someone feel guilty? Because there spending money on gas? Gas in the USA is still way cheap compared to Europe, so im not gonna buy a tiny egg car anytime soon.

  • Considering America has the highest standard of living in the world I imagine it's somewhat understandable that a percentage of our population can afford some luxury's if you can't it is your career path that has decided this. America is the land of opportunity if you have the ability to take advantage of it. I like diesel but I prefer it in fuel efficient cummins powered Ram Trucks!! You and Michelle can simply prevent the embarrassment by leaving..preferably her at least u I don't mind

  • it shouldn't always have to be about price. just the fact that you're driving around in an SUV or shitty crossover or minivan and wasting fuel should make you somewhat guilty. Our family of five used a nissan sentra, toyota corrolla, and ford escorts to haul the family around over the years. this was in the 80's and 90's with cheap gas. we could afford larger vehicles, but why be so wasteful?

  • If you work like me 60 hours plus a week and you scrape and bleed to make more than the norm why wouldn't you enjoy some luxury as a reward for that extra effort? I understand your point of view however just because you don't agree with someone else doesn't make you right or them either.

  • ha ha ha ha ha its cute you think you have the highest living standard in the world when countrys such as sweden and swiss have you beat hands down. europe is the home of luxury, what americans have is faux plastic they pass off as luxury

  • No actually they have far Less liquidable income show me proof. What percentage of the adult population owns a home? How many of those homes have average 2 or more vehicles to the house hold? What is the average cost of petrol in those nations? Show me economical proof or go back to your mothers basement and keep playing your WOW

  • When you say "owns a home," do you mean a home they've paid off completely? You see, 99% of American's are what I call glorified renters--they don't actually own anything, the banks own their home, their cars even their underwear. Owning something is not having to pay mortgage payments on it. Get that through your thick, over vaccinated skull.

  • Actually I don't believe in vaccinations it weakens your immune system and I have clients that have paid thier 400k plus homes off several times. Your assumptions are ignorant and false.

  • You do understand that your clients are among the 1% of the 1% of population in the United States, right? The VAST majority of "home owners" in the US are nothing but glorified renters and I happen to know for a fact that in other certain countries there's a greater number of people who own more assets (home, car, clothes, etc.) than they do in the US. Although, the difference not very noticeable.

  • You have no education on the global economy and how the US is actually the most powerful economy in the world. We are the leading consumers globally and if you want to continue "farting on" I think is the word you used please learn how the financial system works to begin with as you blatantly have no knowledge of even foreclosure proceedings.

  • In all actuality it is you that has no education, you only have implanted in your head what this corrupt system taught you, you're just a compartmentalized drone (only possessing a small piece of the knowledge). Let me give you an example, if you go to the doctor these days, they look at a chart of symptoms you're having and prescribe the meds the chart tells them to prescribe. You're the same way. Just watch Money Masters online and you'll maybe begin to push out the disinfo out of your head.

  • You just regurgitated what you heard online....you can talk down all you want but unfortunately other than spitting out what some other click counting online money preacher tells you is the truth you have no valuable input here. There's a free how to get rich seminar here in orange county please do go and call me when it makes you rich. Other than that I don't claim to know it all but I am a great deal more educated on the matter than you. Seeing as the federal law requires it.

  • Whatever you say, genius. Although, I personally have witnessed a wealth transfer of the whole city where I grew up in Eastern Europe. It all happened in a period of 10 to 15 years. Like I said before, in the 80's the people owned all the houses/apartments in that city and now everyone who "owns" any real estate, has a huge mortgage on it. The banks now own ALL of the real estate in that city. Sounds to me like you're regurgitating what the federal law "requires," you dump American septic.

  • you still haven't said a single relevant thing besides I saw something terrible happen in Europe once where you grew up. If you knew about Banks you would understand that like now they LOOSE money when they own or foreclose on property. Bank's Do NOT want to OWN Property they want to own debt. Credit cards, Car loans and mortgage notes all that have a resellable value to investors some of which are lumped into equities and securities. Know what I mean?

  • You're either a total dumbass or a disinfo agent. Banks DO WANT TO OWN PROPERTY. I supposed you're going to say that they want to own more currency that is devalued annually through inflation, right? And another thing for you before you respond to this. County, state and federal governments have what's called a comprehensive annual financial report on to of their annual financial report that they release to the public. You see, dumbass, there are two sets of books...

  • ....two ideologies, an esoteric and an exoteric for the goyem. You're been skull raped full of the exoteric ideology. Why don't you reexamine your view on reality. And take my advice, look up the COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT articles and you'll see what I'm saying. You put way too much trust in the system, be careful that the same system doesn't lead you to total blindness.

  • Really? First congratulations on finally looking up some big words (anyone that invests goes through the financials of any company they are considering investing in so congratulations on discovering that) And explain to me exactly why your esoteric financial system? I assume you are saying will work better? Create more global wealth? And just curious do you make anything where you work? Build things? Or just surf the net reading the holy preachers of financial doom blogspots

  • I work as a sales/customer service rep for our family's building services company. Our company is fairly large and I make over six figures annually.

I don't quite understand your statement about "your esoteric financial system." Probably because of the grammar you chose to use. It isn't "my" esoteric financial system, you've totally missed the point, less booze next time. Let me say one thing to you, do research on comprehensive annual financial reports and then you'll have the right mind set.

  • A. Less avoiding the question or perhaps you don't speak English? Explain your theory between the 2. Assuming this is an intelligent theory that you came up with on your own and not a regurgitation of someone's opinion that's up for sale?

  • Let me tell you something else. If you participate or work in a company (a bank for instance) that gets people trapped in debt, you're participation in their criminal act of theft. You see, those banks put up very little of their money and are able to loan out money they don't have through fractional reserve banking. If you loan something out that you don't have, you're becoming an owner of the asset on which you should not be the owner of, you become a thief.

  • You're ignorance is little more than amusing. So through fractional banking and not lending out their own money I assume your speaking of securitization that the bank does not stand to lose money if the property is reclaimed? There are good and bad in every profession and I measure myself by an older moral.

  • The only ones who could reclaim a property is the bank, so I don't know what you're farting on about. You don't understand what I'm trying to tell you here: the bank puts in very little of their own money into the loan and the rest they can just "create into existence," that's fraud and theft. The bank reclaims the amount they had to put up in the loan in the 1st few years of mortgage payments by the "owner" of the house.

  • I like you, your over opinionated and moronic just like the rest of Europe.

  • Let me tell you something. I happen to live in the states since 1991 and have come here from Eastern Europe. Back in the 80's the people owned almost all the houses in our city, only in 10 years time, the banks have become owners of ALL the real estate in that city. There was very few new homes built but mortgages were introduced into the society and the transfer of wealth took only a short amount of time. The banks have rights to "create" money but the people get charged with counterfeiting.

  • I Knew that as soon as you said you made 6 figures. However that does not dictate that you are educated on the financial system. And so I am perfectly clear. You are stating (at this point I can only guess as you dance around the subject) that your esoteric financial system is far superior. My question is provide evidence to support that. Simple

  • Listen, you ignoramus, the financial system that I'm trying to enlighten you on is not "my esoteric financial system." I am merely trying to open your mind up to the fact that there are two sets of books and two sets of ideology in almost every institution, be it a government institution or a banking institution. You need to do yourself a favor and trigger your awakening; you need to research the comprehensive annual financial report scam that city/state and federal governments have going on.

  • And once you see and understand what's going on there, you will automatically start to question the information you get from the banking sector. I know you have been educated in the procedures of the banking system and I know the federal government requires that you be. But you must put that information through a strainer and not swallow everything you're being taught/tolled. I have no animosity towards you, I just have pity for such obedient and expendable "goyem" as yourself.

  • I appreciate your knowledge of the english language and your repeated attempt at using words that a 4 year old may not fully understand. It's not about animosity it's about education. Your faulty in thinking that I believe in our financial system. The point was not that our financial system is not without severe and unalterable corruption. I'm asking you to provide facts to support your opinion. I simply know the system is larger than myself. Fighting it will not win me a battle

  • Even if I provide you facts that are readily available everywhere, you wouldn't even consider them. I gave you a subject to research and find these facts. The only thing left for me to do is to print these facts, roll them up and shove them up your nose. It is also your fault to think that I have no higher education, it might even become evident that I have more education than you, my friend.

  • Anyway, it is quite evident to me now that you have no real desire to discredit the field of work into which you have invested years of your life. It is like trying to convince a pentecostal who had been raised and lived half his life in that particular deception. Even if one has all the fact and even if one paints them into a corner, they will still retain their point of view, because they are not driven by logic but by emotion. You are the same. I'm done with you, you're one good goyem.

  • first again you forget the beginning of the conversation was about America's economy and how it relates to the world. What is our wealth basis and quality of life compared to the rest of the world. You say we are poor I'm telling you we are some of the highest and wealthiest in the world. Do you think Parliment is perfect? You name one perfect system and I'll show you something that doesn't exist.

  • More than 65MPG, I watched another video on it from Britain and the presenter said it would make 76.3MPG. This car would pay for itself. If put to marked in the USA, it would be the new Model T for the 21st Century! They wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand!

  • They may have done the calculation using imperial gallons.

  • 65mpg small car = standard in europe.

SUV diesel + 55mpg = standard in eu

    in Japan, Korea to

we pay 11$/G for gas,10$ for diesel, and i have 2 cars. To America is SF but for rest of world is normal day.

  • @creamyfilling102

you are sooo Right! I cannot agree more!

Are you sure you are an American? ..if yes, your parents must be from elsewhere!

where you get your opinion from? Why other Americans don't think like you?

  • thank you sir. it's nice to see i'm not the only one who thinks this way. my parents think the same,,that's probably where i got my opinions from lol. it's very sad as you said.

  • I don't want to put all Americans in one bag, but in general you are right! I find it very sad!!!

  • we all are being made to belive that no one want these diesel cars they have been not inported for years now..... you can buy a caddy that get 45 mpg but not here uk only i want a big car that gets 45....small cars are getting nearly 80 oil co. wanted this low sulfur fuel for cars but not for airplanes....30year old vw rabbit got 55mpg prius only45 in the real world oh yes alot of prius will soon be needing batteries 4800 dollars of batteries give me a diesel any day
  • The orig. diesel rabbit weighed about 2200 lbs. vs. a new diesel jetta at 3300 or so. I hope to see more small diesel caddy's / pickups too. Maybe availability will increase now that the soot/particulate issues are mostly solved. If something happens to my sedan I think I will get a Jetta TDI next time (maybe a good used one...not sure). I know no american manufacturer is seriously planning diesel sedans and I really don't want a huge lithium battery in the car with me...

  • not righht

  • it's because the diesel in america is NOT low sulfur... so it is relatively poluting, oh and the american government can't understand that emissions per driven mile/kilometer is BETTER than the emissions per litre/galon (diesel engines are less polluting per driven kilometer than gasoline cars because of the high fuel efficiency, however diesel per litre is usually more poluting)

  • Most diesel sold in the USA is low sulpher and has been for a couple years. In a few states (like California) it's been mandatory for a couple years...no choice.

  • ah, i was quite sure they we going to implement it but thought it would only be finished by 2010-2012. anyway if it is low sulpher why are all the americans complaining about diesels "they smell/are slow/polluting" these are all issues from the past. So they are buying all those hybrids which are hardly cleaner and more efficient. One thing i noticed is that when european fuel efficient cars come to the states they have lower fuel efficiency than their euro equivalents. why? :S

  • Well, to answer your questions, all I can say is I am an American, I hate the low MPG SUVs I see crowding the cities, and I want a high mileage, clean diesel car! I really can't speak for other Americans--it just confuses me. As far as the imports getting lower MPG, I don't know--could be Americans buy more automatics or the cars are heavier to meet some import criteria. Thanks for posting your insightful message about low sulphur. It made me look it up...

  • damm EPA

  • which person or branch of government says yes or no on bio diesel cars?

  • and Subaru also made a awd diesel boxer but unavailable in the US
