@cricmahanty, would you be happy if your family members, having been accused of a crime (not yet proven in a court of law), were then subjected to cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment? How would you feel if your loved ones were tortured on the basis of suspicion? Doesn't sound like such a wonderful thing to do now does it? Would Gandhi Ji and Nehru Ji have wanted human beings to be tortured in India? I believe they would not have even condoned the mistreatment of animals, let alone humans.

@dannyp206, if a terrorist is willing to die, why would torture be a deterrent? If anything, torture is often what makes a person turn to terrorism in the first place.

Anyone being tortured anywhere only demonstrates the sadism and moral bankruptcy of those doing the torturing. Even if you break every bone in a terrorists body, it will not bring even one innocent victim back to life, so you would have squandered any moral high ground you had to begin with, and with nothing to show for it.
