HUMBOLOT BALLAST is the BEST of the BEST. PLANTS Need PHOTONS not LUMENS or KELVINS. You will get like a 35% of plant potential only with CFL, but its very cheap though. If you grow with CFl you will never get to see a well developed cannabis plant with big buds, big as your hand is and get between 60 to 100 grams of buds. (co2)
I used 2 old mango kiwi welches cartens and modified them to be the reflectors for my cfls. You would think its ghetto, but they lool like real reflectors lol use the pour out hole to wrap around the v spliter \_ _/ <----looks sum like this but the other way around. Has a nice mango smell even after u wash it with bleach WATER and soap hahaha ^___^

The 1 plant looks good the others lookin alil skinny... Not bad tho... U might wanna top um up alil next time that will make them grow like a bush... And most of the time u get more yeilds that way
wow i didn't think a good crop could be grown with CFL'S you have proved me wrong. But i have to say the way i smoke i'm glad i grow 6 1/2 footers i'd smoke those small things in a week ^_^
oh well i guess some folks are just pleasantly satisfied with less than average bud quality ,, and that is their choice ... =) obviously bud can be grown using these kind of lights ,, but if you want some nice crystal should use HPS or MH lights... just my .02 c .. looks like you are using at least thirty of those little bulbs ,, one 400 metal halide would do that same area and give you some nicer tighter ,, more sugar coated product...
Overkill on the lights. I have grown great plants with less bulbs but used reflectors. There are far more efficient cfl bulbs called Feliz. They are LARGE but work well. T5s are also very good as they are designed for horticulture. You should do your walls with flat white paint, panda film or mylar. Something reflective. This will give far more light than all those bulbs. otherwise you have some healthy plants for what you use. Some good looking sativas in the back. I assume your in the SW or FL
HID's are much better then cfl's. cfl's are good for growing but when it comes to budding cfl's just can't produce the yeild an HID light can. i'm not hating on cfl's i'm just stating my opinion from my own experience with both types of lighting including T5 fluros

@doejohn779 T5s or a large 250 watt Feliz cfl would be FAR more efficient, have way more lumens (a 4'-4 bulb T5 set up has 20,000 lumens at only 220 watts). Less power consumption, more light and bigger yields.
the trainwrecks prior were around 2' to 2 and 1/2' and provided anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 oz each on average. Buds from top to bottom, very nice. Now this sativa strain got double the height, but as you can see the one in the far back left corner is on its way to the best yield yet, Im estimating over an oz.. The CFLs are doing great, I like how i can set them up so no part of the plant is in darkness. My high power usage mainly comes from AC usage. Take care and PPP !
oh and an HPS lighting system would cause me to run the AC even harder. I'm sure it would cost more and likely be just as efficient, which is not enough for me to want to switch.

@APcaveman go ahead and put up 50 cfl bulbs and get them as close to the buds as u can trying not to burn leaves and get your plants to suck up all the nutes to get dense bud. the only half way decent cfl is t5 and u got to have a few of them as well.but in general cfl suck ass and as u say take forever.take this grow for instance; his shit looks wack as fuck cause u have to rig lights so ghetto.and for what? look bad, horrible yeild,long flowering time, more work. HID fixes these problems.

these plants have more lumens dedicated to each of them than one HPS could ever do. The reason is because the CFLs are placed all over the plants so not a spot goes without the proper amount of lighting.

HID's are much better then cfl's. cfl's are good for growing but when it comes to budding cfl's just can't produce the yeild an HID light can. i'm not hating on cfl's i'm just stating my opinion from my own experience with both types of lighting including T5 fluros
